Profile match
Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Operations Automation Specialist based in United Kingdom.

This role sits at the intersection of industrial operations, automation, connected technologies, and emerging robotics solutions.

You will help translate business needs into practical technology solutions that can be deployed across operational environments.

The position covers the full technology lifecycle, from solution design and integration through field testing, validation, deployment, and support.

You will work with IIoT, sensors, telemetry, robotics, embedded systems, data platforms, and cloud-connected technologies.

Your work will help improve operational capabilities while ensuring solutions are reliable, secure, scalable, and fit for purpose.

You will collaborate with vendors, engineers, technology teams, and operational stakeholders in a hands-on and fast-moving environment.

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to digital transformation and the adoption of innovative technologies across complex industrial sites.

Accountabilities

    • Translate business needs and value opportunities into clear technology requirements and contribute to the design of solutions that deliver defined operational outcomes.
    • Support vendor technology evaluations, provide technical recommendations to appropriate design authorities, and help assess emerging IoT, automation, robotics, and connected technologies.
    • Contribute to solution architecture definition and ensure that technology implementations remain aligned with applicable standards, infrastructure requirements, security considerations, and project objectives.
    • Develop, integrate, deploy, and test end-to-end technology solutions involving IIoT, sensors, telemetry, robotics, software, and embedded systems.
    • Prepare for and support field testing, proof-of-concept deployments, Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, and operational technology deployments.
    • Design, document, execute, and improve quality assurance and automation testing processes, recording test outcomes, fixes, upgrades, and validation results.
    • Validate data end to end, from field devices and sensors through connectivity and processing layers to cloud-based platforms and applications.
    • Install and test software across operating-system and application layers, including relevant Linux, Robot Operating System, and embedded environments.
    • Work with vendors and operational teams during deployments, provide feedback on technical issues, and identify opportunities for product and solution improvements.
    • Provide remote support for field installations and operational environments, including device maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and ongoing technical support.
    • Create or adapt online dashboards and data visualization solutions to present operational and technology data effectively.
    • Contribute to data processing activities involving computer vision, artificial intelligence, and machine learning where relevant to operational technology solutions.
    • Maintain awareness of intellectual asset management considerations and commercial models associated with emerging technologies.
    • Requirements:

      • Bring practical field experience working within industrial or operational environments, ideally with exposure to complex technology deployments.
      • Have strong knowledge and hands-on experience in automation, with exposure to robotics programming and industrial technology systems.
      • Demonstrate experience with operating systems applicable to robotics and industrial automation, including Robot Operating System (ROS), Linux, and/or other embedded operating systems.
      • Have experience across systems integration, software and hardware integration, testing, commissioning, and deployment of technology solutions.
      • Understand networking technologies such as Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and cellular connectivity and how they support connected industrial environments.
      • Have experience with field testing, proof-of-concept deployments, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
      • Demonstrate knowledge of sensor configuration, end-to-end device maintenance and upgrades, data processing, and connected-device troubleshooting.
      • Have exposure to computer vision, AI/ML, data integration, data management, data transformation, and related digital technologies.
      • Be familiar with programming languages and able to understand or work with software used in automation and connected technology environments.
      • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
      • Communicate clearly and confidently, with strong presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Be a collaborative team player who can also operate independently, take initiative, and work with limited guidance when required.
      • Be comfortable working quickly, managing competing priorities, and delivering to demanding deadlines.
      • Hold a relevant degree, technical qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
      • Experience within the oil and gas or broader energy industry is advantageous.
      • Demonstrate commercial awareness and an understanding of how emerging technologies can create operational value.
      • Benefits:

        • Hybrid office and remote working arrangement in the United Kingdom.
        • Opportunity to work with industrial automation, IIoT, sensors, telemetry, robotics, AI/ML, and other emerging technologies.
        • Flexible working options designed to support different aspects of employees’ lives.
        • Generous paid parental leave.
        • Competitive retirement benefits.
        • Opportunity to contribute to digital transformation and innovative technology initiatives supporting the energy transition.
        • Collaborative and diverse working environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
        • Up to 10% travel expected as part of the role.
        • The position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
        • The role will initially be based in Sunbury, London, with a planned move to Timber Square, Southwark, around Q4 2027-Q1 2028.
        • Reasonable accommodations are available throughout the recruitment and employment process for individuals with accessibility needs.
        • Depending on the role and local requirements, employment may include pre-placement drug screening, medical fitness reviews, and background checks.
