This full-time remote leadership role oversees the day-to-day operations and performance of a commercial insurance account management team.
You’ll guide team members, balance workloads, strengthen operational processes, and maintain consistently high service standards.
The role combines people leadership with hands-on expertise in commercial insurance and client relationship management.
You’ll serve as a senior resource for complex coverage and service matters while managing an assigned book of business.
Success requires strong judgment, analytical thinking, organization, and a commitment to developing people and future leaders.
You’ll also play an important role in renewals, new business, policy administration, compliance, and operational excellence.
The position is remote within the Southeastern U.S., with occasional onsite requirements depending on business needs.
Accountabilities
- Lead and provide day-to-day oversight, coaching, and guidance to commercial insurance Account Management staff.
- Monitor team productivity, efficiency, quality, service levels, and performance against established standards.
- Promote an engaged, collaborative team culture while reinforcing organizational values and expectations.
- Support employee training, professional development, performance management, and succession planning.
- Participate in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and development of new team members.
- Ensure adherence to HR policies, operational procedures, insurance requirements, and applicable company standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations and maintain clear, timely communication with team members and leadership.
- Assign and balance workloads to maintain service continuity and operational efficiency.
- Implement and reinforce best practices, processes, and procedures that improve workflow and service delivery.
- Monitor and interpret operational and performance data, identifying trends and taking appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain accurate and reliable information across agency and carrier systems.
- Manage an assigned commercial insurance book of business while supporting client retention and satisfaction.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for complex coverage, policy, and client service questions.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships while anticipating needs and supporting ongoing service requirements.
- Oversee policy administration, placement, billing, claims support, documentation, and accuracy throughout the account lifecycle.
- Lead or support renewal and new business activities, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Deliver a high level of proactive client service while identifying opportunities to improve the overall client experience.
- Stay current on relevant policies, procedures, and industry practices while demonstrating integrity and effective leadership.
- At least 5 years of relevant insurance industry experience, or 7+ years of experience in sales, marketing, or relationship management.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial insurance brokerage operations and the needs of business clients.
- Active, required insurance licensing appropriate to the role.
- Professional insurance designations are preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to coach, motivate, develop, and hold team members accountable.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret performance information and take decisive action.
- Exceptional customer service and client relationship management capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, leadership, carriers, and clients.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment while maintaining a dedicated, professional, distraction-free workspace.
- Comfortable managing competing priorities and supporting both team operations and an assigned book of business.
- Willingness to work within the Southeastern U.S. remote-work framework and attend onsite activities when business requirements call for it.
- Competitive annual salary of approximately $105,000-$125,000, depending on experience, relevant skills, and geographic location.
