SAP Datasphere Integration Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP Datasphere Integration Engineer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design and deliver enterprise-grade data integration solutions across complex SAP and cloud ecosystems.

You will connect SAP platforms such as S/4HANA, ECC, and BW/4HANA with modern cloud data environments, with a strong focus on SAP Datasphere and Amazon Redshift.

The position combines hands-on engineering, data architecture, integration design, and platform optimization.

You will work closely with architects, business analysts, and technical stakeholders to transform business requirements into scalable and maintainable data solutions.

Your work will directly support trusted analytics through strong data quality, governance, security, and lineage practices.

The role also provides opportunities to leverage technologies such as Matillion, SAP BTP, AWS, CDC, and automation frameworks.

It is well suited to an experienced data engineer who enjoys solving complex integration challenges and working across SAP and cloud technologies.

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data integration pipelines connecting SAP S/4HANA, ECC, BW/4HANA, and other source systems with SAP Datasphere.
• Build and optimize SAP Datasphere data models, views, spaces, replication flows, and system connections.
• Architect and implement integration frameworks between SAP Datasphere and cloud data warehouses, particularly Amazon Redshift, with a focus on scalability, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Develop and support ETL/ELT workflows using Matillion or comparable integration technologies to orchestrate data movement across SAP and non-SAP environments.
• Implement and manage batch, real-time, and Change Data Capture (CDC) replication strategies using SAP technologies such as SLT and ODP.
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure data integration solutions in collaboration with architects, analysts, and stakeholders.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines to improve data quality, processing performance, operational efficiency, and platform costs.
• Establish and maintain data governance, security, access-control, and data quality standards across SAP Datasphere and downstream platforms.
• Document integration architectures, technical designs, data lineage, data models, and operational procedures to support long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, performance optimization, and more efficient data engineering practices.
• Stay current with SAP Datasphere enhancements, SAP Business Technology Platform capabilities, AWS developments, and modern cloud data engineering practices.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data integration, SAP analytics, SAP data architecture, or a closely related discipline.
• Hands-on expertise with SAP Datasphere, including space management, data modeling, connectivity, integration, data replication, and data federation.
• Strong understanding of SAP source systems, including SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, and SAP BW/BW/4HANA.
• Experience with SAP data extraction technologies such as Operational Data Provisioning (ODP), SAP Landscape Transformation (SLT), and CDS Views.
• Proven experience working with cloud data platforms, particularly Amazon Redshift.
• Strong SQL development and data modeling capabilities, including dimensional modeling, star schemas, snowflake schemas, and data vault methodologies.
• Solid understanding of data integration patterns, including batch processing, real-time integration, CDC, API-based integration, and data federation.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts covering storage, compute, networking, and security, preferably within AWS environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex data integration issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, business, and stakeholder groups.
• Hands-on experience with Matillion for ETL/ELT development and orchestration is preferred.
• SAP certifications in Datasphere, BW/4HANA, or SAP BTP are advantageous.
• Experience with SAP BTP services and integration capabilities is a plus.
• Familiarity with enterprise data governance, data cataloging, and metadata management tools is beneficial.
• Consulting, professional services, or client-facing experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of Python, scripting, or automation frameworks used in data engineering workflows is a plus.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices within data platform environments is advantageous.
• Exposure to additional cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure Synapse Analytics is beneficial.
