Senior SAP FICO Consultant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior SAP FICO Consultant based in India.

This senior consulting role offers the opportunity to lead complex SAP Finance initiatives across large-scale enterprise environments. You will specialize in Funds Management and Asset Accounting while also contributing across core SAP FICO capabilities. The role combines solution design, configuration, integration, testing, migration, and post-go-live support across the full implementation lifecycle. You will work closely with business stakeholders, SAP specialists, technical teams, and developers to translate financial requirements into scalable solutions. The position also provides significant ownership in architectural governance, process improvement, and best-practice recommendations. It is well suited to an experienced SAP finance professional who enjoys solving complex business challenges and leading enterprise transformation.

Accountabilities:

• Lead the end-to-end design, configuration, testing, and delivery of SAP FI-FM, including commitment management, budget structures, derivation rules, and General Ledger integration.
• Drive the full lifecycle of SAP FI-AA, covering asset classes, depreciation areas, parallel valuation, construction-in-progress settlements, and year-end closing.
• Deliver and support core SAP FICO capabilities across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Ledger, Cost Center Accounting, and Internal Order Accounting.
• Manage cross-module integration with SAP MM, SD, PS, and PM, including procurement commitment tracking and project-related financial processes.
• Conduct requirements workshops, gap analyses, and solution assessments with business stakeholders.
• Recommend SAP best practices and scalable solutions aligned with business and financial requirements.
• Produce comprehensive functional specifications, configuration documentation, test scripts, and data migration strategies.
• Collaborate with ABAP developers on custom reports, interfaces, enhancements, workflows, BAPIs, BADIs, and user exits.
• Lead cutover activities, historical balance migration, deployment preparation, and post-go-live hypercare.
• Support architectural governance and ensure that SAP Finance solutions meet functional, technical, integration, and business requirements.
• Translate complex technical and financial concepts into clear recommendations for business stakeholders and technical teams.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of hands-on SAP FICO implementation and support experience.
• At least two full-lifecycle SAP implementations with substantial responsibility for both Funds Management and Asset Accounting.
• Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance, including Universal Journal architecture, New Asset Accounting, and Fiori applications.
• Strong knowledge of SAP Funds Management and Public Sector Management, or comparable commercial cash and budget management frameworks.
• Solid experience integrating SAP Finance with MM, PS, and PM.
• Strong understanding of FI-GL, FI-AP, FI-AR, Bank Ledger, CO-OM, Asset Accounting, and Funds Management processes.
• Experience with data migration, cutover activities, historical balance migration, and post-go-live support.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to evaluate complex financial and technical requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively between business and technical teams.
• SAP S/4HANA Financial Accounting certification is preferred.
• Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent is an advantage.
• Experience with automated cutover tools, LTMC/Migration Cockpit, or Central Finance environments is a plus.
