Software Engineer, General

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, General based in Canada.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a versatile software engineer to contribute across an ambitious AI research and product environment.

You’ll work on products and infrastructure spanning web, desktop, mobile, backend services, and AI systems.

The role is designed for a generalist who brings deep expertise in at least one technical area while comfortably exploring others.

You’ll have significant ownership, solving high-leverage problems and shipping production software used by real people.

Your work may range from customer-facing product experiences to cloud infrastructure, model serving, and developer tooling.

The priorities will evolve quickly, giving you the opportunity to tackle challenging problems where your skills can create the greatest impact.

Accountabilities

• Build and ship customer-facing product experiences across web, desktop, and mobile applications.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs capable of supporting reliable production workloads.
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure, platform systems, and infrastructure supporting products and AI model serving.
• Develop internal developer and research tooling that improves engineering productivity and accelerates the broader team.
• Take ownership of high-leverage technical problems, identifying opportunities and implementing solutions without requiring extensive direction.
• Work across technical domains as priorities evolve, contributing wherever engineering expertise can have the greatest impact.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and other team members, participating in code reviews and maintaining high standards for reliability and maintainability.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools extensively to improve development speed, quality, and problem-solving.

Requirements

• Several years of experience building and shipping production software that real users depend on.
• Deep expertise in at least one area such as frontend engineering, backend development, infrastructure, systems, or ML tooling, combined with the ability to work effectively outside that specialty.
• Strong proficiency in the primary development languages used in the environment, particularly TypeScript and Python.
• Comfort working with a systems-oriented language such as Rust when technical requirements call for it.
• Strong ownership and initiative, with the ability to identify problems, determine appropriate solutions, and execute without waiting for detailed instructions.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools as a meaningful part of your everyday engineering workflow.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a low-ego approach to working in a small team where engineers regularly review and build upon one another’s work.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment where priorities and high-impact problems can change quickly.
• Experience with AI products, LLM applications, AI agents, or tool-calling workflows is a plus.
• Open-source contributions or substantial personal projects that demonstrate technical curiosity and initiative are valued.
• Familiarity with modern AI infrastructure, including PyTorch, OpenAI-compatible APIs, model routing, or inference systems, is an advantage.
