Software Engineer (Java)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer (Java) based in Brazil.

This is a senior backend engineering opportunity focused on building reliable, scalable, and secure software solutions.

You will develop and evolve backend systems using Java and Spring Boot, translating business requirements into effective technical solutions.

The role combines new feature development with the optimization and maintenance of existing applications.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to technical decisions, code quality, and engineering best practices.

Your work will directly support the performance, stability, and evolution of systems used in critical business operations.

Accountabilities

• Develop and implement backend functionalities using Java, with a focus on code quality, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Design and develop REST APIs and integrate applications with internal and external services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize existing systems, identifying and resolving defects, bottlenecks, and performance issues.
• Participate actively in code reviews, promoting clean code, SOLID principles, and other software engineering best practices.
• Work with Git for source control, maintaining effective versioning and collaboration practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation, keeping system information accurate, accessible, and useful to the development team.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement across development processes and technical practices.

Requirements

• Solid professional experience in backend development with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience designing and developing REST APIs.
• Experience with SQL databases and MongoDB.
• Strong understanding of domain modeling and implementation of business rules.
• Experience with relational databases and JPA/Hibernate.
• Practical experience with automated testing using JUnit, Mockito, or similar tools.
• Strong command of Git and good source-control practices.
• Knowledge of Clean Code, SOLID principles, and robust exception handling.
• Experience working with agile methodologies.
• Experience with microservices architectures is desirable.
• Familiarity with integrations involving APIs and external services is a plus.
• Knowledge of observability, logging, application performance, and scalability is desirable.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD is an advantage.
• Experience in financial services, credit, or cooperative organizations is a plus.
