Jobgether is a Belgian recruitment platform built entirely around remote and flexible work, aggregating openings from thousands of employers that allow work from outside an office. Its matching engine ranks roles against a candidate's skills, seniority and stated preferences on location and flexibility, rather than leaving people to filter a keyword search, and it verifies how genuinely remote each posting is. The company also runs an AI screening layer that shortlists applicants for employers, and publishes research and guidance on distributed work practices alongside the job marketplace itself.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Project Engineer based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to lead engineering activities for large-scale battery energy storage projects across North America.

You will oversee technical execution from design development through construction and commissioning, serving as a key engineering point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

Working within cross-functional project teams, you will coordinate electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, controls, and balance-of-plant requirements.

You will collaborate closely with engineering consultants, suppliers, EPC contractors, procurement teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality project delivery.

The position combines technical ownership, design review, vendor management, site verification, and hands-on problem solving in a rapidly evolving renewable energy sector.

Strong engineering judgment will be essential as you identify technical risks, resolve complex issues, and ensure projects meet applicable codes, standards, and performance requirements.

With meaningful ownership and up to 25% travel, this is an opportunity to contribute directly to the delivery of critical energy infrastructure across Canada and the United States.

Accountabilities:

    • Lead and oversee the technical execution of utility-scale battery energy storage projects from design development through construction, testing, and commissioning.
    • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for engineering requests, technical coordination, project support, and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Manage technical scope, engineering schedules, deliverables, dependencies, and stakeholder coordination to support projects being delivered on time and to the required standards.
    • Develop technical specifications and support vendor reviews, supplier qualification, equipment testing, and commissioning activities.
    • Support procurement and tendering processes by preparing technical requirements, coordinating supplier information, maintaining technical Q&A documentation, and evaluating EPC bidder proposals.
    • Manage external engineering consultants and facilitate technical coordination meetings, design reviews, and issue-resolution sessions.
    • Review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, and other technical documentation from suppliers, consultants, and contractors, identifying gaps and driving timely resolution.
    • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering requirements across electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, controls, and balance-of-plant systems.
    • Review Factory Acceptance Test procedures and reports to verify that equipment and systems meet project requirements.
    • Conduct site visits and inspections to confirm construction and installation activities align with approved designs, drawings, specifications, and quality expectations.
    • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, helping project teams resolve design, installation, equipment, and execution issues.
    • Evaluate technical risks, dependencies, and engineering changes, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to protect project performance and delivery objectives.
    • Collaborate with internal engineering, project management, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to maintain strong technical alignment throughout each project.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
      • At least 5 years of experience in project engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical role supporting complex energy, power, electrical infrastructure, or industrial projects.
      • Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems, including cable sizing, short-circuit analysis, load-flow analysis, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies.
      • Demonstrated ability to review engineering designs, drawings, technical specifications, calculations, and project documentation to identify gaps and resolve technical issues.
      • Working knowledge of grid-interconnection requirements and renewable energy or energy storage codes and standards, including UL, NFPA, IEEE, NETA, NERC, and applicable regional requirements.
      • Experience supporting procurement activities and technical bid evaluations for major electrical equipment such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, and related systems.
      • Strong project coordination and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, engineering consultants, suppliers, EPC contractors, and other external partners.
      • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound technical judgment and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving project issues.
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced project environment while maintaining attention to quality, safety, and schedule.
      • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% within Canada and the United States, including occasional multi-day site visits.
      • Familiarity with EMS, SCADA, PPCs, PLCs, IT/OT networks, communication protocols, and related control systems is an advantage.
      • Knowledge of balance-of-plant systems, including UPS systems, fire detection and suppression, HVAC, and auxiliary electrical systems, is considered a plus.
      • Benefits

        • Competitive salary of approximately CAD $125,000-$160,000, with the range varying by location and paid in local currency.
        • Annual bonus opportunity tied to performance and organizational objectives.
        • Opportunity to work on utility-scale battery energy storage projects supporting the transition toward cleaner and more resilient energy systems.
        • High level of technical ownership across the full project lifecycle, from engineering design through construction and commissioning.
        • Hybrid and remote-work flexibility, with the role available across Canada and the United States.
        • Exposure to complex electrical infrastructure, energy storage technologies, grid integration, controls, and multidisciplinary engineering.
        • Collaboration with experienced engineering, project management, procurement, construction, commissioning, and external technical teams.
        • Opportunities to develop expertise in a rapidly growing renewable energy and energy storage industry.
        • Professional development and learning opportunities supporting long-term career growth.
        • Inclusive and collaborative work environment focused on innovation, sustainability, continuous learning, and employee development.
        • Opportunity to make a tangible impact by contributing to the delivery of large-scale energy infrastructure across North America.
