Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack based in India.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity within a fully remote engineering environment focused on building secure, scalable enterprise software. You will own the architecture and technical direction of large-scale distributed applications while remaining deeply hands-on in software development. The role centers on Python backend engineering, with opportunities to contribute to Java services and modern full-stack capabilities. You will influence engineering standards, mentor other engineers, and drive improvements across reliability, security, automation, and developer experience. Modern cloud infrastructure and AI-assisted development tools are integral to the engineering environment. The position offers broad technical ownership, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to shape systems used by organizations worldwide.

Accountabilities

• Own the architecture, design, and technical direction of large-scale, distributed enterprise applications.
• Design and develop scalable, secure, highly available backend services, primarily using Python, while contributing to Java-based services.
• Drive architectural decisions, technical strategies, engineering standards, and long-term platform improvements across teams.
• Build and evolve distributed systems using microservices, event-driven architectures, REST APIs, and modern software engineering practices.
• Champion software craftsmanship through clean architecture, automated testing, application security, observability, and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to accelerate development, automate repetitive activities, and improve software quality and engineering productivity.
• Drive improvements to developer experience, platform capabilities, automation, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Design and operate cloud-scale applications with a strong focus on resilience, security, scalability, and availability.
• Collaborate across engineering and other functions to translate business and customer needs into pragmatic technical solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, with 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in Python backend development, with good working knowledge of Java.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, REST APIs, and modern software architecture principles.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, Linux, observability, production troubleshooting, and application security.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, messaging systems, caching technologies, and asynchronous processing.
• Proven ability to design scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available enterprise-grade systems.
• Experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar technologies to improve engineering productivity while maintaining strong quality and security standards.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, GraphQL, or enterprise SaaS platforms is a plus.
• Exposure to AI/LLM-powered applications, developer productivity platforms, or open-source projects is desirable.
• Strong architectural thinking and the ability to balance long-term technical strategy with pragmatic execution.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions through expertise and clear reasoning.
