This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Transportation Consultant - Data Analytics based in the United States.
This role supports transportation strategy and execution across a complex supply chain network, using data to improve cost, service, and operational performance.
You will analyze transportation activity across distribution centers, warehouses, carriers, and customer destinations to uncover actionable opportunities.
As a transportation subject matter expert, you will combine analytics, technology, and industry practices to optimize network performance.
The position offers broad cross-functional exposure, partnering with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and third-party logistics providers.
You will lead improvement projects, manage performance metrics, and translate complex datasets into clear recommendations for decision-makers.
The role also provides an opportunity to influence process standardization and continuous improvement across transportation operations.
Success requires analytical depth, project management capability, strong communication, and the ability to turn insights into measurable operational outcomes.
Accountabilities
Analyze transportation network data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, service improvement, and greater operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, executive reports, and KPI reporting using transportation management systems and business intelligence tools.
Lead transportation-related projects from conception through completion, defining scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and expected outcomes.
Partner with internal operations, supply chain, warehousing, sales, finance, customer service, and external 3PL providers to align transportation strategies and execution.
Monitor fleet and transportation KPIs, identify trends and performance gaps, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
Manage project budgets and timelines while ensuring initiatives remain aligned with operational and financial objectives.
Identify opportunities to standardize transportation processes and implement best practices across the network.
Proactively investigate complex transportation challenges and develop data-driven solutions through collaborative problem-solving.
Serve as a transportation subject matter expert and support strategic initiatives designed to improve network performance and customer service.
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
4+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably involving dedicated fleet operations or carrier management.
Demonstrated project management experience, including responsibility for complex projects, timelines, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong analytical capabilities with experience working with large datasets, identifying trends, and developing actionable business insights.
Experience with data visualization and business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Alteryx, and Power BI is highly beneficial.
PMP or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification is preferred.
Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across organizational levels and with external partners.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational challenges.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to travel approximately 10-15% as required by the role.
Anticipated annual salary range of $68,500-$97,700, with actual compensation determined by factors including location, education, experience, skills, and internal pay equity.
