Fire Sprinkler Service Supervisor

Johnson Controls delivers fire protection and building technology solutions that help customers protect people, property, and operations. In this role, you will lead a Sprinkler Service Department within an assigned territory, balancing customer satisfaction, team performance, safety, and financial results.

Role Overview

The Fire Sprinkler Service Supervisor is responsible for the coordination, execution, safety, financial performance, and growth of the Sprinkler Service Department. You will provide leadership to technicians and support staff while ensuring high-quality service delivery for water-based fire protection systems, strong customer relationships, and consistent compliance with company and job site standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Sprinkler Department to an approved financial plan, including operating expenses, labor, inventory, capital, and accounts receivable/collections.
  • Own departmental P&L with responsibility for revenue growth, margin performance, and profitability.
  • Implement plans, programs, and processes to meet or exceed corporate goals and maximize market potential across service segments.
  • Drive new service bookings and growth within existing customer accounts.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships from initial engagement through service execution and contract fulfillment.
  • Ensure service commitments and contractual obligations are consistently met.
  • Resolve customer concerns related to service quality, scheduling, billing, and collections in a timely manner.
  • Hire, train, organize, and develop technicians and support staff into a high-performing team.
  • Set fair technician territories and workloads to optimize productivity and response times.
  • Coach performance, identify training needs, and support growth in technical skills, sales awareness, customer service, and product knowledge.
  • Participate in technician ride-alongs to evaluate safety compliance, productivity, performance, and technical capability.
  • Enforce Johnson Controls corporate safety programs and EH&S policies.
  • Ensure safety training is current, thorough, and documented for all employees.
  • Conduct or support workplace accident investigations and corrective actions as required.
  • Support servicing and troubleshooting of wet, dry, and pre-action sprinkler systems, fire pumps, backflows, and related water-based fire protection systems.
  • Review construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to support job execution and compliance.
  • Approve time reports, service documentation, and operational reports.
  • Coordinate schedule changes, discrepancies, and field issues with dispatch and management.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas and ensure proper use, storage, and security of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Work alternate shifts, weekends, and rotational on-call coverage as required.

  • Work collaboratively across dispatch, management, customers, and field teams to deliver one coordinated service experience.
  • Lead with respect and trust so the team can perform safely and consistently.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with water-based fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action systems, hydrants, and backflows.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of supervisory or management experience with revenue and margin responsibility.
  • NICET Level II in Water-Based Systems or higher.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with experience in high-volume service environments.
  • Action-oriented, accountable, punctual, and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Ability to work with computers and mobile technology, including Word, Excel, Outlook, CRM systems, and iPhone applications.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 60 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolding, and operate lifts up to 40 feet or higher while using required PPE.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Additional NICET certifications, such as Fire Alarm or Special Hazards.
  • Experience managing large service territories or high-revenue departments.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $76,100 to $104,600 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
