Overview
Josh.ai is seeking a talented C++ Software Engineer to join our engineering team in Denver. In this role, you'll contribute to the development and evolution of the core software platform that powers the Josh.ai smart home ecosystem.
You'll work across platform and application domains, developing new functionality, building integrations with third-party products, and solving complex technical challenges involving connected devices and systems. This is an opportunity to work on software that directly interacts with the physical world while collaborating with a highly skilled, cross-functional engineering team.
The ideal candidate is a strong C++ developer who enjoys solving challenging problems, writing clean and reliable code, and contributing to the architecture and continuous improvement of a sophisticated technology platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core software features across the Josh.ai platform and application ecosystem.
- Develop and maintain device drivers and integrations that enable seamless communication between Josh.ai and third-party smart home products and technologies.
- Troubleshoot complex software and system-level issues across platform and application domains, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate closely with backend and frontend engineers, UI/UX designers, and other team members to deliver high-quality software and product functionality.
- Participate in technical discussions, contribute to software architecture decisions, and recommend improvements to system design and development processes.
- Write maintainable, efficient, and well-tested code while following established engineering standards and best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and iterative deployment processes to continuously improve product quality and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of professional software development experience using C++.
- Strong understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, and debugging techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical challenges and develop practical, reliable solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Go and/or Python.
- Experience developing software for embedded systems or working with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS.
- Familiarity with hardware interfaces, device communication protocols, and third-party system integrations.
- An interest in smart home technology, home automation, IoT, or connected device ecosystems.
- Experience working in an agile software development environment.
- Familiarity with development tools and workflows such as Git, JIRA, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment.
- Comfortable working in an iterative development environment with frequent code testing, integration, and deployment.

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is 100,000-140,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and technical expertise.

- This is a full-time, on-site position based in Denver, Colorado.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Candidates must reside in the Denver metropolitan area or be willing to relocate.
