The Tax Specialist supports the Market and GBS Tax Manager in delivering accurate, timely, and audit-ready tax compliance, reporting, and business support for JT International (Philippines), Inc. and JTI GBS Philippines Inc.

The role is responsible for day-to-day tax operations, including tax filings, payments, reconciliations, tax accounting, internal and external reporting, and regulatory documentation. It also works closely with business stakeholders to provide practical tax guidance, support audits and reviews, strengthen controls, and improve tax processes through automation and digitalization.

This position is well suited for a tax professional who combines strong technical knowledge with attention to detail, stakeholder management skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.

As the Tax Specialist, you will:

  • Prepare, validate, and support the timely filing and payment of applicable national and local tax obligations, including regulatory submissions, permits, and registration renewals.

  • Maintain accurate tax accounting schedules, working papers, account reconciliations, provisions, forecasts, and internal tax reports.

  • Work with Finance, Accounting, GBS, and other stakeholders to ensure that tax-sensitive transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and supported by complete documentation.

  • Provide first-level tax guidance on routine transactions, contracts, projects, registrations, and operational changes, while escalating complex or high-risk matters to the Tax Manager.

  • Support BIR and LGU audits, internal audits, JSOX activities, tax health checks, refund claims, and other reviews by preparing schedules, reconciliations, explanations, and audit-ready evidence.

  • Help address audit findings by supporting process changes, control enhancements, documentation improvements, and recurring compliance checks.

  • Identify manual activities, recurring errors, reporting challenges, and control gaps, and recommend practical improvements through standardization, automation, dashboards, system enhancements, and digital tools.

  • Coordinate routine requirements and deliverables with external tax consultants and service providers under the direction of the Tax Manager.

  • Support tax awareness initiatives by contributing to trainings, reminders, job aids, FAQs, and practical guidance for business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant qualification is preferred but not required.

  • At least 3 years of experience in tax, accounting, financial reporting, corporate tax, tax consultancy, tax controversy, governance, or internal controls.

  • Sound knowledge of Philippine tax regulations, tax accounting, tax reporting, and related regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in tax compliance, account reconciliations, audit support, and preparation of supporting documentation.

  • Exposure to BIR or LGU audits, internal audits, JSOX, tax health checks, or coordination with external advisors is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect business transactions, accounting entries, tax returns, and supporting documents.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic market and shared-services environment.

  • Good communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain tax requirements clearly to non-tax stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with AI-enabled tools.

  • Experience with SAP, ERP platforms, or BIR systems is preferred.

  • Process improvement mindset, with the ability to identify manual workarounds, recurring errors, control gaps, and opportunities for automation.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Filipino.
