Internship in Embedded Software Development and Wireless Technology

Are you curious about how wireless communication systems power the smart technologies of tomorrow? Do you want to explore embedded software development on a Linux platform? Would you like to join an interdisciplinary R&D team where learning, collaboration, and innovation go hand in hand?

Here is what the job entails
During your internship, you will be part of our concentrator team, where we develop infrastructure products for collecting smart meter data. Your focus will be on embedded development for our Linux platform inside the concentrators, as well as contributing to our solution for automated monitoring the concentrators in operation at our customers.

You will be working with one or more of the following areas during the internship:

• Embedded software development in C++
• Linux platforms
• Statistical data analysis
• Data analysis and visualisation in Python
• Platforms for dashboarding, like Grafana or similar
• Performance analysis of wireless systems

You will gain experience with all phases of a typical development project at Kamstrup – from idea and evaluation to design and prototype implementation. This will give you valuable insight into the diverse and exciting role of a development engineer and help strengthen your future career. The specific content of the internship will be planned together according to your ambitions and competences. It is also possible to work with the topic described above as a semester project or M.Sc. thesis of 6–12 months duration.

Meet your future team
As Intern in our R&D department within wireless communication for smart metering, you will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating with engineers on various development tasks. Together we work to ensure that the data transmissions from smart meters are received and made available to our customers. You will become part of a strong work environment where you will experience a focus on freedom with responsibility and personal development.

Did you know? In addition to Linux experts the team has a homebrewer of beer, a pizza chef and a university lecturer. Moreover, every half year we break out from the development projects and embark on a one-week hackathon, where the entire team collaborates on small proof-of-concept projects.

Less about us, more about you
We are looking for a motivated student who can contribute to the R&D department with their updated theoretical knowledge.

In order to succeed we imagine that you:

• Are pursuing a relevant engineering degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering or Information and Communication Technology) with an interest in mathematics, communication theory, and software development.
• Have a curious, thorough, and structured approach to solving complex challenges.
• Work independently with attention to detail and a strong desire to learn.
• Value collaboration and strive for continuous professional and personal growth.

As we are an international organisation it is important that you are fluent in English. Danish will be an asset, but not a requirement.

Whilst you may not meet all the qualifications listed above, this is an internship position, and we value curiosity and a willingness to learn just as much as experience. If the role interests you and you are motivated to grow, we encourage you to apply.

We offer more than just an internship
At Kamstrup, your contribution as an intern is highly valued, and we cherish the good colleagueship. Therefore, you will experience an internship with a strong focus on your individual development through challenging tasks, career sparring, voluntary courses, as well as social events and a large network. We are proud, that our internship program has resulted in Studenterhus Aarhus granting us with the Mentor Award, the Internationalization Award, the Jury’s Special Award and the award for East Jutland’s Best Internship.

Besides the best program, we also offer:

• The internship is paid if your place of study allows it
• Multiple internship events and weekly internship lunches
• Employee benefits including a healthy canteen, fitness facilities, in-house dental clinic, hairdresser, and a free health clinic
• An active employee association, that fosters a collaborative and supportive workplace community

Do you want to be a part of Kamstrup?
