About the Position
The company is seeking a hands-on Lead Heavy Equipment / Crane Mechanic to oversee the company's mechanics while remaining directly involved in field repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
This is not an office-based management position. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys turning wrenches, diagnosing problems, and going wherever the equipment needs them. The primary focus will be crane mechanics, with experience working on yellow iron and other heavy equipment highly valued.
The fleet includes equipment ranging from 60-ton rough-terrain cranes to 250-ton lattice crawler cranes, along with hydraulic and other heavy equipment.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the company and potentially develop into an Equipment Manager as the organization expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the company's mechanics while remaining a hands-on field mechanic.
- Diagnose, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot cranes and heavy equipment.
- Perform field service and emergency repairs as needed.
- Work on equipment ranging from rough-terrain cranes to large lattice crawler cranes.
- Oversee preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
- Help prioritize repairs and coordinate mechanical resources.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other mechanics.
- Travel throughout Florida when equipment requires service.
- Maintain a high standard of safety, quality, and equipment uptime.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience as a crane mechanic
is highly preferred.
- Heavy equipment/yellow iron mechanical experience is a strong plus.
- Experience working on rough-terrain and/or lattice crawler cranes.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to work independently in the field.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate other mechanics.
- Must be willing to remain hands-on rather than transition immediately into an office role.
- No specific degree or educational background required; practical mechanical experience is the priority.
- Ability to travel throughout Florida as needed.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Panama City, FL.
