Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition
As LawZero continues its rapid evolution, we are seeking our first Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition to partner with our VP, Talent, empower our growing team, and lead our recruitment strategies and efforts.
As an operational builder and people leader, your mission is to empower our recruiting team through agile processes, elevated candidate experiences, and global employer branding. In this role, you will balance team mentorship and strategic international frameworks to attract top-tier AI, research, and specialized talent, while providing hands-on recruiting support across critical mandates as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Empowerment: Directly manage, mentor, and elevate our talent acquisition team in Montreal; leverage recruitment data and analytics to optimize workload capacity and foster a high-trust, collaborative environment.
- Global Sourcing, International Recruitment & Relocation: Design and execute high-velocity cross-border talent strategies to attract world-class scientific talent globally. Oversee relocation, immigration, and global mobility processes to ensure smooth international onboarding.
- Employer Branding & Candidate Experience: Lead dedicated employer branding projects to elevate LawZero's global talent presence, while auditing and maintaining an exceptional, high-touch candidate experience standard.
- Hands-on Technical Recruiting: Personally manage full-cycle talent acquisition mandates for high-priority, leadership, or highly specialized technical roles.
- Process Implementation & Operations: Build, refine, and put standardized processes in place across the entire hiring lifecycle (ATS workflows, interviewing frameworks, and scalable operational guidelines).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal teams, including Talent & Culture and Marketing & Communications, to align talent acquisition with LawZero’s global goals.
- Reporting, Analytics & Competitive Intelligence: Establish TA metrics, data reporting dashboards, and conduct competitive market analysis (talent mapping, compensation trends, and international hiring benchmarks) to inform strategic leadership decisions.
Skills and qualifications
- 10+ years of technical talent acquisition experience, including 3+ years as a formal People Manager directly managing, developing, and leading recruiters.
- Proven track record in international recruitment and managing talent acquisition operations within high-growth tech startups, scale-ups, or R&D environments.
- Experience in international hiring, immigration/visa relocation frameworks, and candidate onboarding.
- Process Builder & Data Mindset: Demonstrated experience building talent processes from scratch, leveraging ATS reporting/analytics, and executing structured employer branding projects.
- Hands-on Player-Coach: Ability to balance high-level strategy, analytics, and team leadership with active, hands-on recruiting for complex technical roles.
- Deep familiarity with the technical language, nuances, and candidate landscape within deep-tech, R&D, or complex engineering sectors.
- High comfort level navigating ambiguity, fast-paced transformations, and shifting operational priorities.
- Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken).
