Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Software Engineer to develop high-performance applications and backend systems supporting advanced sensor and mission systems. This role is ideal for early career Engineers who want to build strong software fundamentals while gaining exposure to high-performance and real-time systems. Primary Responsibilities:
Support advanced technology radar programs.
Develop user-facing and backend software that interfaces with high-performance sensor and data processing systems.
Contribute to development of C++ applications and backend systems.
Support integration, testing, and debugging of software.
Assist in improving performance and reliability of systems.
Collaborate with team members across software, systems, and hardware disciplines.
Learn and apply best practices in systems and performance-oriented software development.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an ABET-accredited school.
Experience with at least one programming language such as C++, Java, Python, or similar.
Experience with developing software through an academic, internship, or personal project.
Exposure to Linux, systems programming, or concurrent programming concepts.
Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core computer science fundamentals.
Understanding of performance, data flow, and system behavior.
Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to learn new technologies and work across different layers of the software stack.
Ability to reside or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area to work on-site.
Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to messaging frameworks such as ZeroMQ or similar.
Exposure to containerization and CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to tools such as MATLAB or similar for analysis or prototyping.
Interest in radar, RF, or sensor systems.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
