Headquartered in Beijing, China, and Morrisville, North Carolina, United States - with its registered office in Hong Kong - the publicly traded corporation operates across three primary business divisions: the Intelligent Devices Group (IDG), the Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), and the Solutions and Services Group (SSG). Through an extensive product and services portfolio encompassing ThinkPad and IdeaPad personal computers, Motorola smartphones, ThinkSystem enterprise servers, edge computing hardware, and hybrid cloud solutions, the enterprise provides hardware, software, and managed IT services to commercial clients, public institutions, and retail consumers across more than 180 markets worldwide.

The Product Engineering Manager leads a team of Product Engineers responsible for driving technical excellence across Lenovo's server and infrastructure portfolio. This role combines engineering leadership, defect management, customer escalation support, new product readiness, and strategic technology enablement.

The manager is accountable for developing technical talent, driving root-cause resolution of complex product issues, collaborating with Development and Architecture teams, and ensuring operational readiness for current and future technologies, including AI, GPU, water-cooling, networking, storage, and cloud solutions.

The role requires strong cross-functional leadership, balancing customer impact, engineering priorities, product quality, and business objectives across global regions.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and develop a geographically distributed team of Product Engineers, ensuring technical excellence, performance, and continuous professional development.
  • Oversee product defect management, driving root cause analysis, resolution, and preventive actions for complex hardware and software issues.
  • Manage critical customer escalations, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution and minimize customer impact.
  • Partner with Development, Architecture, Quality, and Technical Support teams to drive product improvements and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Drive new product introduction (NPI) readiness, ensuring engineering teams are prepared to support new server platforms and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure technical readiness and expertise across server and infrastructure technologies, including AI/GPU, water-cooling, networking, storage, and cloud solutions.
  • Establish and monitor engineering processes, operational metrics, and defect management practices to improve product quality and support efficiency.
  • Prioritize engineering activities and resources, balancing customer needs, product quality, business priorities, and operational objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance engineering processes, technical capabilities, and overall product reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for complex infrastructure issues involving server hardware, firmware, BIOS/UEFI, BMC/XCC, operating systems, and enterprise environments.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in Product Engineering, Technical Support, Development, Quality Engineering, or related technical functions, including at least 3 years of experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams.
  • Proven experience managing critical customer escalations, complex product defects, and root cause analysis (RCA), driving issues through to resolution.
  • Strong technical knowledge of server platforms and enterprise infrastructure, including hardware components, firmware, BIOS/UEFI, BMC/XCC, networking, storage, and hardware diagnostics.
  • Good understanding of operating systems and virtualization technologies, particularly Linux, VMware, and Windows Server.
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycles, engineering processes, and defect management tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud and emerging infrastructure technologies, including AI/GPU platforms and advanced cooling solutions such as water-cooling.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to develop technical talent, drive execution, and coordinate cross-functional teams across global regions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, combined with a continuous improvement mindset and focus on product quality and customer satisfaction.
