About You and this Role
Liferay is looking for a versatile Sales Engineer to drive technical engagements, solution proposals, and strategic product demonstrations for enterprise opportunities in Japan. Operating at the intersection of technical excellence and business acumen, Sales Engineers collaborate across distributed sales and technical teams to translate complex digital transformation requirements into compelling customer solutions using Liferay Experience Cloud and Digital Experience Platform (DXP) technologies. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to prospects and partners, combining customer service, technical sales, storytelling, and solution consulting to directly support regional revenue growth.
Key Objectives
Design and conduct attractive, properly branded, solution-based product demonstrations that address prospective client needs across Japan.
Lead technical response development for RFIs/RFPs, tender bids, positioning documents, and competitive sales collaterals.
Define implementation architectures and build broad expertise in how applications and services are constructed using Liferay platforms.
Serve as a domain subject matter expert across key focus areas including Customer Experience (CX), Web Content Management (WCM), and external system integrations.
Partner directly with the Sales team to execute account strategies, educate customers on cloud value propositions, and achieve regional revenue targets.
Participate in conferences, roadshows, and technical evangelism to demonstrate Liferay’s technology leadership in the market.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in designing, implementing, or consulting on web-based applications or Digital Experience Platforms (DXP/CMS).
Business-level fluency in both English and Japanese to collaborate seamlessly with local clients and global cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to present confidently to both technical and executive audiences, including developers, IT management, and business executives.
Hands-on experience gathering business requirements, drafting technical specifications, creating architecture diagrams, and managing deployment phases.
Technical degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time to customer sites, including international travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with Liferay technologies or comparable portal solutions.
Working familiarity with front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular) and Java EE development frameworks.
Proven track record of migrating or transforming legacy customer architectures into modern cloud environments.
Familiarity or practical experience with AI tools and Low-Code development platforms.
Advanced degree (Master's) in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering.
