Staff SAP Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Staff SAP Software Engineer to drive the technical evolution of our next-generation Cloud integration solutions. In this role, you will serve as a key technical authority-bridging complex SAP core domains (FI, MM, SD) with modern Cloud platforms.

You will lead technical design, deliver high-performing ABAP software, align architecture with modern SAP standards, and collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Architecture

• System Design & Delivery: Lead end-to-end SDLC activities-from technical analysis and estimation to coding, testing, release, and post-deployment support.
• Core Modernization: Write scalable, secure, and clean ABAP code adhering to modern architectural practices (Clean Core, ABAP for Cloud, ADT in Eclipse).
• Performance & Quality: Optimize system architecture, debug complex issues, perform HANA query tuning, and ensure code coverage through ABAP Unit testing.

Technical Leadership & Process

• Agile Guidance: Act as a technical focal point and occasional Scrum Master-guiding Agile ceremonies and helping the team hit delivery milestones.
• Mentorship & Quality Standards: Conduct thorough code reviews, champion SOLID principles, and mentor junior/mid-level engineers.
• Documentation & Specs: Create clear technical designs, specification documents, and UML models for both internal engineering teams and customer-facing integration workflows.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

Essential Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development and software design.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Platforms & Modules: Deep knowledge of SAP S/4HANA (2022+) and ECC 6.0, with strong functional exposure to SAP FI (e.g., journal postings, financial workflows).
• Core ABAP & Design: Mastered ABAP OOP, MVC patterns, SOLID design principles, and Core Data Services (CDS) view optimization.
• Integration & Modernization: Proven experience with classic extensions (BAdIs, User Exits) alongside transitioning towards Clean Core and consuming/configuring Web Services (REST/SOAP, Postman).
• Tools: Proficiency with ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse and HANA Query Analyzer.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Practical experience with SAP BTP (ABAP Environment / Steampunk) and the RAP model (RESTful Application Programming).
• Familiarity with additional modules: FICA, Special Ledger (FISL), or MM/SD integration details.
• Experience in automated UI/API testing (e.g., Selenium, C#) or SAP Fiori/UI5 development.
