Overview

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and intel sectors-helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.

Responsibilities

LMI is seeking a skilled Enterprise IT Architect to support the design and integration of enterprise IT and communications infrastructure across a network of new and existing secure facilities. The Enterprise IT Architect will define the target-state architecture, ensure interoperability across sites, and work with engineering leads and government stakeholders to translate mission requirements into scalable technical solutions. This is an execution-oriented role supporting a fast-paced, milestone-driven prototype effort with near-term deliverable commitments. Success requires systems-level thinking, technical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to balance mission needs, security, performance, cost, operational risk, and long-term sustainability.

Primary duties include:

  • Lead enumeration and documentation of the technical baseline across multiple geographically dispersed sites, including classified and unclassified network enclaves, transport, security boundaries, and cross-domain transfer capabilities.

  • Design and develop target-state network and systems architectures for new secure facilities and an existing operational site, ensuring interoperability and compliance with federal security requirements.

  • Develop security authorization roadmaps in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (NIST SP 800-37 / 800-53) in partnership with ISSO and security engineering leads.

  • Define architecture for enterprise services, including end-user computing, classified and unclassified VTC/AV integration, and 24x7 network and security operations center (NOC/SOC) monitoring.

  • Produce design documentation, technical sections of milestone deliverables, and cost and feasibility inputs supporting a priced follow-on proposal.

  • Clearly articulate design decisions, alternatives considered, and associated tradeoffs - cost, schedule, security, and operational impact - to government sponsors and non-technical stakeholders, and support sponsor decision briefings and technical reviews.

  • Develop current-state, transition-state, and target-state architectures across infrastructure, networking, cloud, data, applications, identity, cybersecurity, and operations.

  • Provide technical governance while enabling engineering teams to make timely decisions within established architectural boundaries.

  • Establish an enterprise automation strategy that standardizes repeatable processes, reducing manual effort to enable operational efficiency and enabling secure, scalable, and modern technology capabilities.

Foundational Skills

  • Enterprise and solution architecture principles.

  • Systems thinking and requirements decomposition.

  • Network, compute, storage, virtualization, cloud, data, application, and identity fundamentals.

  • Security architecture, zero-trust principles, risk management, and defense in depth.

  • Agnostic systems integration, interfaces, APIs, and data flows.

  • Availability, redundancy, resilience, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations.

  • Architecture modeling, technical documentation, and decision analysis.

  • Technology lifecycle management and modernization planning.

  • Cost, performance, risk, and operational tradeoff analysis.

Location: This position is based in the Washington, DC metro area, with travel to program locations.

Travel: This position requires approximately 25-50% travel to support activities across multiple program locations.

Availability: Immediate availability strongly preferred; unclassified planning work may begin while program access nominations are processed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise IT architecture, including in classified environments.

  • Strong understanding of network, systems, and security architecture principles.

  • Demonstrated experience leading large, geographically dispersed teams.

  • Experience architecting IT infrastructure for SCIF or other accredited classified environments, including multi-enclave network design.

  • Working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (NIST SP 800-37 / 800-53) and the security authorization process.

  • Experience architecting solutions for SCIF or other classified facility environments.

Nice to Have:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, CISSP, AWS/Azure architecture certifications).

  • Experience integrating cross-domain solutions (CDS) into enterprise architectures.

  • Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) facilities, systems, or environments.

  • Experience designing classified and unclassified video teleconferencing (VTC) and conference room AV capabilities.

  • Experience designing or standing up network or security operations centers (NOC/SOC), including 24x7 coverage models.

TS/SCI clearance is required for this position - final adjudication is required and interim clearances will not be considered. Candidates must also be eligible for Special Access Program (SAP) access; Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. LMI will only consider applicants with current TS/SCI security clearance. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
