Standard Job Description
Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations and control laws to achieve a desired position in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.
Basic Qualifications
Skill Requirements:
- Broad technical skills such as rigid body dynamics,
control theory, and/or computer programming.
- Proven experience using MATLAB and/or Simulink
for simulation and analysis of feedback control
systems, closed loop guidance, or navigation
algorithms.
- C/C++ programming experience
- Demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of
linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry,
and/or coordinate transformation.
- Ability to clearly document analysis results in
presentation slides and engineering memos
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team
environment.
Desired Skills
- Experience with simulations and physics-based
modeling
- Experience with state estimation and navigation
algorithms, including Extended Kalman Filters
- Experience with kinematics using Euler Angles and
Quaternions
- Experience with autopilot design and linear stability
analysis
- Familiarity or experience with missile defense
systems or fire control
- Experience with C++ development and Gitlab
- Experience with FORTRAN and 6DOF simulations
- Experience with model based software
development using Simulink (autocoding)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability as a team player to build
consensus among peers and build effective
relationships with team members.
- Demonstrated communication skills with the ability
to articulate complex technical issues to peers,
management, subcontractors and customers.
- Familiarity with agile software development
- Distributed/parallel processing
- Possess a Secret clearance
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $101400.00 - $188200.00
