In 2018, we began with a WhatsApp group with a simple hypothesis: people in tier-2/3 towns weren’t really using the internet meaningfully yet. We believed that if we started with local content in their own language, they’d come back every day; once there was a habit and trust, that same space could naturally grow into classifieds and, eventually, something they used for almost everything online.This spark became Lokal. Our first instinct was to put everything in one place & one app - local updates, classifieds, jobs, matrimony and more. It worked, till it stopped working. Users gave us the insight - when one use case outweighs the others, everything else seems like noise. We listened. Like how Craigslist quietly seeded a generation of focused companies & marketplaces, we began unbundling and verticalising.

Role Overview :
We are looking for a Content Manager / Language Level Manager (LLM) to own and drive the overall growth and performance of an assigned language at Lokal. The role requires strong content judgment, creator management, creative thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to scale high-quality content based on user and business needs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Own the end-to-end growth and performance of the assigned language.
- Manage, onboard, train, and scale content creators.
- Drive improvements in content quality, engagement, share rate, and overall language performance.
- Experiment with new formats, hooks, narratives, video styles, and content concepts.
- Track creator, category, and language-level performance and take corrective actions.
- Identify top-performing creators, coach underperformers, and maintain a strong creator pool.
- Ensure consistent content supply across regular categories, festivals, events, trends, and marketing campaigns.
- Act as a bridge between Marketing, Operations, Product, Analytics, and Creators.
- Study competitor content, regional trends, festivals, and user behaviour to identify growth opportunities.
- Work with Product and Analytics teams to identify content gaps and user preferences.
- Strong video editing skills with hands-on experience in creating engaging content.
- Create and improve SOPs, creator workflows, quality checks, performance frameworks, and incentive structures.
- Plan content calendars and supply for upcoming events and growth opportunities.
- Ensure strong regional and cultural relevance across all content.
- Manage multiple creators and stakeholders while ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Strong creative and content judgment.
- Excellent understanding of the assigned language, regional culture, trends, and audience behaviour.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage, coach, motivate, and drive accountability across creators.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Marketing, Operations, Product, Analytics, and Creator teams.
- Strong ownership, problem-solving, and execution skills.
- Comfortable working with data and performance metrics.
- Ability to manage multiple campaigns, creators, categories, and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience in content operations, creator management, digital media, or regional content is preferred.
- Strong eye for emotionally powerful or viral content
- Awareness of Indian tier 2,3 audience’s status consumption habits
