Senior Accountant - IDOT Bureau of Maintenance Support

2IM Group is now part of MacKay, and we are seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to support The Bureau of Maintenance Support. This role is based out of IDOT’s Schaumburg HQ and will require some travel through the district, including audits at their yards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate, timely financial statements utilizing Excel spreadsheets to monitor spending on service and other associated contracts including commodities  
• Conduct monthly and quarterly account (1200, 1300, 1500, and 1800 funding) reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to Support’s attention for rectification - authorized vs invoiced for, for consistent quality control
• Review all Maintenance transactions and invoices as necessary
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts for obligation purposes - estimated spends vs actual spends  
• Coordinate semi-annual commodity audits as an internal check with Financial Services   
• Conduct regular ledger maintenance daily to ensure accurate reporting on spends

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required (Master’s preferred)
• 5+ years’ experience in general or tax accounting
• Experience with computerized ledger systems
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment
• Experience with IDOT processes is a plus

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

US Pay Range

$40—$48 USD

Full-time employees receive a well-rounded benefit package including access to our company-sponsored Medical (including an HSA High Deductible option), Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. We also offer 100% company-paid Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company's 401(k) plan with up to a 4% match. Additionally, employees receive paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, and are able to participate in employee ownership options. MacKay pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual performance bonuses.
