A.P. Moller-Maersk is a Danish shipping and logistics group founded in 1904 that operates one of the largest container fleets in the world and has spent the past several years trying to become an integrated logistics company rather than only a carrier. The strategic argument is that container shipping is a brutally cyclical commodity business, while contract logistics, warehousing and air freight produce steadier earnings and deeper customer relationships. Headquartered in Copenhagen and controlled by the Moller family foundation, it also operates APM Terminals, one of the largest port terminal networks globally.
APM TerminalsPURPOSE

APM Terminals is part of Maersk, an integrated transport and logistics company and a global leader in container shipping and ports. As a member of the Project Delivery Team at SCCT, the Electrical Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of the electrical package for terminal projects in Port Said, Egypt.

Working closely with the Project Manager, Project Controls Lead, HSSE Manager, contractors, consultants, terminal stakeholders and other package leads, the Electrical Lead provides technical leadership and site oversight across industrial power distribution, HV/LV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, electrical installation, testing, energisation, commissioning and handover.

The role is responsible for ensuring electrical works are delivered safely and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, technical requirements and operational objectives. The role will also manage contractors, vendors and technical interfaces with equipment, civil, automation, IT/OT, maintenance and operations.

Key role:

Safe & Successful Electrical Delivery

  • Ensure safe, high-quality delivery of electrical package activities across design, procurement support, installation, testing, energisation, commissioning and handover.
  • Drive effective site execution and compliance with project HSSE requirements, approved designs, specifications and applicable electrical standards.

Technical Leadership & Commissioning

  • Provide technical leadership for HV/LV distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection and control systems and associated industrial electrical installations.
  • Lead technical reviews and coordinate FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, energisation, commissioning, defect resolution and operational acceptance.

Contractor, Interface & Operational Integration

  • Manage electrical contractors, EPC partners, OEMs, vendors and consultants to achieve project objectives.

Electrical Engineering & Design Management

  • Review electrical designs, calculations, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, layouts, protection philosophies, cable schedules and technical submissions relevant to the project.
  • Provide technical oversight for HV/LV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, power distribution, protection systems, earthing and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Challenge contractor and consultant solutions to ensure they are safe, maintainable, constructible, fit for purpose and aligned with project requirements.

Installation, Site Execution & Quality

  • Monitor contractor performance and delivery against technical, contractual, schedule, quality and HSSE commitments.
  • Support timely resolution of technical, commercial, contractual and delivery issues affecting the electrical package.

Interface & Integration Management

  • Coordinate interfaces between electrical infrastructure and equipment, civil works, automation, IT/OT, maintenance and terminal operations.
  • Ensure electrical dependencies, assumptions and constraints are identified and managed early enough to protect overall project delivery.
  • Support integration of electrical infrastructure with container-handling equipment and terminal systems where applicable.

Safety, Risk & Compliance

  • Promote visible safety leadership and a strong electrical safety culture across contractors and site activities.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are applied for high-risk electrical activities, isolation, energisation and commissioning.
  • Identify and manage electrical package risks, opportunities, changes and technical issues in coordination with the Project Manager, HSSE Manager and Project Controls Lead.

Project Controls, Documentation & Handover

  • Support planning, forecasting, progress reporting, change management and risk management for the electrical package.
