Group Summary:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all facility equipment including, compressors, chillers, HVAC units, exhaust & supply fans
  • The Facilities Team Leaderreportsdirectly to the Facilities Supervisor and is responsible to provide communication and reporting of the Department progress/results in achieving divisional goals, and the regular operation of the department.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications/interaction with all Departments, including but not limited to engineering, quality assurance, production, HR and material control support groups to achieve established targets.
  • Conducts all business activity in a professional manner consistent with the positive leadership practices of building trust, empowerment, and competitiveness, with emphasis on personal responsibility. Follows and sets a positive example of MSSC Leadership daily. Deals with issues and problems in a positive fashion
  • Utilizes all equipment and manpower to achieve the most effective results. Manpower and equipment utilization are meeting or exceeding expected results/targets
  • Co-ordinates preventative maintenance with maintenance technical group and production planning
  • Orders materials required for repair, modification, installation, and maintenance of equipment. Abides by MSSC’s Purchasing Policy
  • Participates in quotations and follows up related to new projects
  • Assigns competent trade and follows up with inter-department requests
  • Provides direction and oversees that contractors adhere to MSSC plant policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes maintenance program/database ensuring accurate data is entered to determine proactive courses of action.
  • Supports daily PM assignments, does follow-up and monitors PM schedule.
  • Regularly monitors scoreboards to observe where issues are occurring, and that maintenance offers assistance and support to production team members; Responds to Andon based on the escalation process, as required.
  • Quality issues or concerns within their area of responsibility are dealt with by applying root cause analysis, in an effective manner.
  • Assists with repair, modification, and installation activities with other maintenance personnel (when required).
  • Participates in the design and/or redesign of new or used equipment.
  • Participates in the APQP process related to new product.
  • Monitors and shares KPI results with employees to encourage continuous improvement results. KPI's are monitored through daily methods. KPI results are reviewed regularly using a variety of means i.e. pre-shift and department meetings, postings and one on one.
  • Works with employee production team to minimize/reduce waste to achieve company objectives. Efforts towards minimizing/reducing waste shows a reduction in Departmental KPI's
  • Participates in the development of the department action plan and leads their team to achieve strategic goals and continuous improvement objectives in alignment with Magna Structures St Clair (MSSC) business plan.
  • Promotes/recommends continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people, processes and equipment/machinery.
  • Assists in the development of procedures and methods which improve Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost and Motivation.
  • Makes decisions in the scope of their responsibilities that are in the best interest of the department, MSSC and Cosma/Magna.
  • Ensures confidentiality in all matters pertaining to both business and employee relations.
  • Participates in department meetings to communicate Safety, Quality, Timing, Cost and Motivation information and to promote involvement in issues affecting employees or their work areas.
  • Participates in manpower requirements planning, overtime scheduling, and assists with capacity planning to meet future objectives.
  • Ensures fairness and encourages and participates in the Open-Door Resolution Process for employee relation issues.
  • Effectively builds and fosters high performing teams by ensuring teamwork within their area.
  • Conducts investigations into all non-conformance to Company polices/procedures/rules/regulations and applies the applicable corrective action.
  • Ensures suppliers are performing work safely while in their work areas/zones when applicable.
  • Complies with, supports and models MSSC’s operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook, and Magna’s Employee’s Charter, Corporate Constitution, Operational Principles, and all applicable laws and regulations governing a manufacturing environment.
  • Complies with relevant Quality and Environmental programs (e.g. TS16949, ISO14001).
  • Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA. Follows and ensures Company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the department. Ensures all employees are adhering to all safety rules and regulations and problem-solving issues that arise in the area of safety and ergonomics.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.
  • Other duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • HVAC Knowledge - Preferably with Trane and AAON experience
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and with a variable workload.
  • Strong organizational, time management, planning, written, computer and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a maturity of judgement, leadership skills, attention to detail and exceptional organizational, listening,

Communication, and presentation skills in all aspects of the job function

  • Excellent math skills with the ability to apply to cost and analyse data
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced environment to meet customer requirements
  • Must be able to interact effectively with other team members
  • Able to appreciate and maintain proper level of confidentiality.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Some of the physical demands of this position include standing for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:

Some of the equipment and tools used are Power & hand tools, aerial lifts, forklift/tugger, computers, various software.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have a sound knowledge and understanding of building codes specifically around structural specifications.
  • Must have demonstrated experience and understanding of mechanical equipment and operational principles of mechanical components and systems

EDUCATION:

TECHNICAL TRAINING:

HVAC, NFPA 70E, ICM

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 8 years Industrial Electrician

Minimum 5 years Facilities/Building Maintenance
