About the job
Based at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, within the Food & Beverage Department, the Chef de Rang is responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences through professional, attentive and personalized service, ensuring the highest standards of luxury hospitality are consistently achieved. The Chef de Rang reports directly to the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Restaurant Manager.
As Chef de Rang, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Deliver exceptional and personalized food & beverage service in accordance with Mandarin Oriental standards.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently while providing menu recommendations and product knowledge.
- Ensure the correct setup, cleanliness and presentation of the assigned station before, during and after service.
- Coordinate effectively with the kitchen and bar teams to guarantee timely service delivery.
- Anticipate guest needs, handle requests and resolve concerns professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction at all times.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of menu offerings, ingredients, wine list and daily specials.
- Process payments accurately and follow all cash handling procedures when required.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
As Chef de Rang, we expect from you:
- Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Passion for luxury hospitality and exceptional guest service.
- Previous experience as Chef de Rang, Waiter/Waitress or similar role in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant.
- Excellent food and beverage knowledge; wine knowledge will be considered an advantage.
- Highly responsible, professional and reliable.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality service.
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a multicultural team.
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in luxury hospitality or fine dining establishments.
- Fluent English and Spanish; additional languages will be valued.
