Maintenance Supervisor

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the hatchery's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure, supporting both the mud crab and sea cucumber hatchery systems during commissioning and commercial production. The role will coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities and ensure that maintenance requirements are planned, prioritised, and completed efficiently, leading the maintenance technicians to minimise equipment downtime, ensure uninterrupted operations, and maintain a safe and efficient working environment across both production facilities.

As part of their ongoing growth, they are expanding their team in the Philippines and looking for a proactive, highly motivated Maintenance Supervisor to join their dynamic team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of mud crab and sea cucumber hatchery facilities, leading maintenance activities and technicians to minimise equipment downtime, ensure uninterrupted operations, and maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintenance Planning & Coordination

• Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities across the hatchery, covering pumps, blowers, filtration systems, UV sterilisers, ozone systems, protein skimmers, compressors, aeration systems, generators, laboratory equipment, and associated life-support equipment
• Identify maintenance requirements and prioritise work based on operational needs, in accordance with maintenance schedules
• Coordinate maintenance activities with relevant departments and external contractors and suppliers for specialised servicing where required
• Maintain maintenance schedules, logs, inspection records, repair reports, and related documentation

Technical & Operational Support

• Oversee the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of hatchery equipment and supporting infrastructure, including hatchery buildings, plumbing systems, water distribution systems, drainage, tanks, valves, and associated infrastructure
• Oversee the diagnosis of mechanical and electrical faults and coordinate timely repairs and appropriate solutions
• Ensure facilities, equipment, and infrastructure, including critical life-support systems, are maintained in safe and working condition at all times
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems, and oversee system performance testing
• Ensure maintenance tools, spare parts, and workshop areas are organised and in good condition, and monitor consumables to recommend procurement of spare parts and maintenance supplies
• Support the team with urgent maintenance requirements and equipment breakdowns when needed

Team Supervision

• Supervise and provide guidance to maintenance technicians and other relevant personnel.
• Ensure maintenance work, including equipment operation and troubleshooting support to hatchery staff, is completed safely, efficiently, and to an appropriate standard.
• Promote good maintenance practices and a proactive approach to equipment and facility upkeep.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company safety procedures and hatchery SOPs, including Good Aquaculture Practices (GAqP).
• Identify and report potential safety or operational risks.
• Maintain appropriate records relating to maintenance activities and issues.

General

• Perform other maintenance and operational duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, technical qualification, or relevant trade/maintenance background, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, Electromechanical Technology, or a related discipline
• 10+ years of relevant experience preferred; candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong relevant technical knowledge and skills will also be considered
• Relevant experience in maintenance supervision or a similar role, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance
• General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance, including water pumps, blowers, piping systems, valves, electrical control panels, and generators
• Well-versed in maintenance and exposed to different fields, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and other maintenance disciplines
• Experience preparing maintenance schedules and managing preventive maintenance schedules (PMS)
• Strong troubleshooting, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and team leadership skills.
• Comfortable working in a site-based hatchery environment
• Able to work independently and respond effectively to operational maintenance requirements and equipment emergencies
• Good written and spoken English and Filipino

Advantageous or Nice-to-Have Skills/Experience:

• Experience in hatchery, aquaculture, agriculture, manufacturing, food production, or a similar environment
• Experience managing contractors or external maintenance providers
• Relevant technical or trade certifications
• Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals
• Basic welding, fabrication, electrical and plumbing skills
