About our Audit team:

Join our dynamic Audit and Advisory Services team (AAS) and play a vital role in supporting and enhancing governance and risk management across Manulife Group in different segment and countries (including MBPS, global functions, Asia and GWAM segments). You’ll have the unique opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from over 10 locations across Asia, gaining exposure to a rich variety of cultures and perspectives. Within AAS, this role sits in the business audit stream and primarily supports audits of life insurance companies and asset management entities within Manulife in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The team works across diverse business models, products, and regulatory environments, offering broad exposure and strong learning opportunities for audit professionals.

Role Purpose

This role is a key contributor to the planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality business audits and reviews covering life insurance and asset management operations. The role requires sound audit judgment, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to assess risks, controls, and business practices in a practical and value-adding manner.

The role is encouraged to leverage data analytics and technology to enhance audit effectiveness, coverage, and insight generation.

Position Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and support a range of business audits and reviews (including risk-based audits, targeted reviews, and defined procedures) in accordance with Manulife’s audit methodology and IIA Standards.
  • Perform end-to-end audit activities, including planning, fieldwork, analysis, and reporting, with appropriate supervision.
  • Evaluate key business risks, internal controls, and governance practices across life insurance and asset management operations.
  • Identify control gaps, assess root causes, and develop clear, practical, and value-added audit issues and recommendations.
  • Communicate audit observations effectively with business and regional management, and support constructive discussions to reach agreement on audit issues and action plans.
  • Prepare audit deliverables that are clear, concise, and well-structured, in line with audit quality and reporting standards.
  • Apply data analytics, where appropriate, to support risk assessment, testing, and identification of trends or anomalies.
  • Monitor and follow up on the implementation status of agreed audit actions to support timely issue closure.
  • Maintain high standards of audit quality, documentation, and professional judgment in all assignments.
  • Actively participate in departmental initiatives, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, compliance, or equivalent business roles within financial services.
  • Solid understanding of business processes, risks, and controls.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate audit findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and regional environment.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within life insurance companies and/or asset management companies is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with auditing life insurance products, asset management operations, or related regulatory environments.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CA, ACCA, CIA, or equivalent are an advantage.
  • Experience or interest in using data analytics to support business audits.
  • Additional language capabilities (e.g. Chinese) are an advantage.
