Manulife is a Canadian insurance and asset management group founded in Toronto in 1887, with the first Canadian prime minister as its founding president. It sells life and health insurance, annuities and retirement products in Canada, the United States under the John Hancock brand and across a dozen Asian markets, and runs Manulife Investment Management as a global asset manager for institutional and retail clients. Headquartered in Toronto and listed in Toronto, New York and Hong Kong, it earns a growing share of its profit in Asia and has been reducing its exposure to legacy long-term care liabilities through reinsurance transactions.

The Risk Technology team at Manulife is seeking a seasoned data and analytics professional to help design and deliver innovative technology solutions that strengthen our Global Risk Management capabilities. In this role, you will shape how data, analytics, and workflow tools support critical risk functions across the enterprise-directly contributing to our mission of making decisions easier and lives better. You’ll have the opportunity to work on complex business problems, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and help modernize risk processes through cutting-edge data and technology practices. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about solving challenges with data and driving meaningful impact at scale.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive business requirements, technical specifications, and documentation for Risk Technology initiatives.
  • Analyze complex data sets and partner with management to design innovative, data-driven solutions.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analyses to support strategic decision-making, budgeting, and resourcing.
  • Facilitate process reviews and identify training needs related to new system implementations or workflow enhancements.
  • Lead or collaborate in agile environments to deliver iterative business value and support acceptance testing standards.
  • Serve as an effective facilitator, communicator, and trainer for team members and business stakeholders.
  • Research, evaluate, and document business issues related to workflows, processes, and system design.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in analytics, technology, or risk-related roles
  • Strong experience with SQL querying, data modeling, and building dashboards in BI tools (Qlik, Tableau, or Power BI)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Analytics, or related field (Master’s degree is an asset)
  • Expertise in system design, business analysis, and user acceptance testing
  • Excellent problem-solving, verbal/written communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Solid understanding of Operational Risk and Regulatory Risk reporting methods
  • Experience in using AI assistance for expediting SDLC (e.g. Visual Studio Code, GitHub CoPilot, Claude Code)
  • Strong grounding in statistical analysis and data inference

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with eGRC tool like Archer
  • Knowledge of agile project management methodologies and workflow design
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders across functions and levels
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions
  • Experience delivering training or writing technical tutorials

When you join our team:

  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.
  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.
  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.
