Manulife is a Canadian insurance and asset management group founded in Toronto in 1887, with the first Canadian prime minister as its founding president. It sells life and health insurance, annuities and retirement products in Canada, the United States under the John Hancock brand and across a dozen Asian markets, and runs Manulife Investment Management as a global asset manager for institutional and retail clients. Headquartered in Toronto and listed in Toronto, New York and Hong Kong, it earns a growing share of its profit in Asia and has been reducing its exposure to legacy long-term care liabilities through reinsurance transactions.

We are seeking a strategic and customer-focused Product Owner to lead high-impact fraud initiatives and shape the vision, roadmap, and delivery of key Fraud, Waste & Abuse capabilities. In this role, you will own the product backlog, translate business needs into clear priorities, and partner with agile, technical, and cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful outcomes. The ideal candidate brings strong Long-Term Care experience, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to balance customer insight, technical constraints, and business value to continuously improve product performance and innovation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and prioritize critical fraud initiatives to deliver business value.

  • Drive product strategy, roadmap, and delivery for Fraud, Waste & Abuse capabilities.

  • Own and prioritize the backlog, including epics, stories, and themes aligned to strategy.

  • Represent the voice of the customer by incorporating user research and feedback into product decisions.

  • Partner with agile teams, Scrum Leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver prioritized features.

  • Use KPIs, experiments, and data analysis to measure performance and guide product direction.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design, and leadership to identify pain points and accelerate value delivery.

  • Oversee release planning, remove roadblocks, and continuously improve through learning and adaptation.

Qualifications:

  • Required experience in Long-Term Care (LTC), preferably within Fraud, Waste & Abuse, claims, or related product environments.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and manage competing priorities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate product vision, opportunities, and outcomes to diverse stakeholders.

  • Solid understanding of technical architecture, current technology stacks, and platform constraints to support effective product decisions.

  • Proven experience facilitating journey mapping, story mapping, and roadmap planning sessions to align teams and define priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects or workstreams independently, provide subject matter guidance, and coordinate small cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in product development, project and change management, with a strong focus on delivery, stakeholder alignment, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to use KPIs, data interpretation, and performance tracking to validate decisions, measure outcomes, and drive ongoing optimization.

When you join our team:

  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.

  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.
