Tensteel is a steel commodity intermediary that connects global suppliers with industrial buyers across Colombia and the region. The company operates as a commercial agent: no inventory, no warehouses pure commercial execution between mills and end clients, with transactions structured around international contracts, maritime logistics, and import operations.

The Logistics & Foreign Trade Analyst is the operational backbone of every closed deal. From contract execution through supplier coordination, shipping documentation, customs clearance, and claims resolution, this role ensures that each transaction is tracked, enforced, and closed with precision. The position also owns the company's regulatory intelligence: FTA applicability, tariff conditions, and trade compliance across active markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract & Documentation Management: Verify and request supplier-required documentation for onboarding new clients.
  • Receive sales contracts, distribute to clients, and return fully executed copies to the supplier no gaps in the contract chain.
  • Cross-check every sales contract against the client’s email confirmation: product specs, price, payment terms, delivery timelines, and special conditions must match before the transaction advances. Compile and review all documentation required for Tensteel’s commission invoicing.
  • Payment & Production Tracking: Verify and monitor payment conditions (letter of credit or advance payment) per agreed timelines, following up with clients to ensure payments are received on schedule. Track production milestones at the mill and notify clients when material is ready for dispatch. Monitor shipment data using freight intelligence sources and flag deviations proactively. Manage quantity tolerances and sea quantity adjustments per contractual terms.
  • Logistics Documentation & Compliance: Verify that shipping and import document instructions comply with both client and supplier requirements before documents are issued. Send copies of final shipping documents by email and confirm dispatch of originals to clients. Manage end-to-end closure of sales contracts: data reconciliation and payment settlement confirmation. Support the commercial and executive team with logistics intelligence: international freight rates, customs conditions, and tariff structures across active destinations.
  • Claims & Dispute Resolution: Own the full claims lifecycle between supplier and client gather evidence (photos, samples, inspection reports), coordinate with the mill on resolution, and follow through to formal close. Maintain a claims log with status, responsible parties, and resolution timelines. No open claim without a next action and a deadline.
  • Regulatory Intelligence & Comex: Build and maintain a live repository of applicable FTAs by product and destination market: who benefits, under what conditions, applicable value thresholds, and grey areas. Produce periodic customs and tariff intelligence reports: active importers in the region, applicable tariff lines, duty conditions, and preferred nation status. Monitor trade news and policy developments and flag operational implications proactively. Work closely with the
  • Commercial Analyst to validate the regulatory viability of new product categories.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in foreign trade operations, import/export coordination, or customs brokerage - with hands-on tracking and enforcement experience, not just document preparation. Background in steel, metals, or bulk commodity logistics is a strong plus.
  • Organizational discipline: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple open shipments simultaneously without losing control of status, timelines, or documentation. Self-imposed rigor - not dependent on a manager to set priorities.
  • Regulatory knowledge: Familiarity with DIAN procedures, customs classifications (arancel), Colombian import regulations, Incoterms, and international payment mechanisms (LC, advance payment). Experience building FTA or tariff databases is a strong plus.
  • English: B2 minimum, primarily written. Will communicate directly with foreign mills, shipping lines, and international counterparts.
  • Education: Degree in International Trade, Foreign Commerce, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Location: Based in Bogotá. On-site, Monday-Friday.
