The Workers Compensation Placement Broker provides specialist broking support for workers’ compensation programmes across Australia. You will work closely with senior brokers and clients to develop tailored placement strategies, negotiate with insurers and reinsurers, and manage policy administration across complex arrangements. You will also contribute to market management, data and analytics, and the development of products and solutions for large employers.

We will count on you to:

  • Analyse client risk exposures and workers’ compensation portfolios to recommend cost-effective placement and risk transfer strategies aligned with client objectives
  • Prepare clear underwriting submissions, renewal proposals, quotations and placement documentation that set out risk profile, coverage options and financial implications
  • Support senior brokers and large employers with workers’ compensation policies for large employers in underwritten jurisdictions, including multi-state placements, self-insurance, managed fund structures, excess layers and bespoke arrangements
  • Monitor market conditions, insurer appetite and pricing trends, and translate market intelligence into practical placement advice
  • Use data and analytics to support team market management, reporting and placement decisions
  • Respond promptly to client queries, resolve issues to maintain service quality and escalate complex matters when required
  • Assist with product development, market positioning and contractual reviews to support new opportunities and service offerings

What you need to have:

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Australian workers’ compensation legislation across jurisdictions and premium determination methods, including experience/retrospective rating and loss-sensitive schemes
  • Experience with self-insurance, managed fund or nominal insurer arrangements, excess layers and reinsurance placements
  • Proficiency in claims exposure assessment, financial analysis and interpretation of financial statements and industry metrics
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Power BI for modelling, analysis, reconciliation and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, time management and conflict resolution skills

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience using broking platforms, Word and PowerPoint to support presentations, documentation and reporting
  • A client-focused approach with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to build productive relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and insurance and reinsurance partners

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities
