Your Team, Your Impact

The Sr. Director, Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) is a senior leadership position within Marvell's global Quality organization, reporting to the SVP of Quality. This role is responsible for the end-to-end supplier quality structure - from advanced node foundry process quality through OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) performance. The leader will build and inspire a high-performing, globally distributed SQE team and serve as the executive quality interface to Marvell's most strategic suppliers and supply chain partners.

As a key member of the Quality Leadership Team, this leader will shape and execute the global SQE strategy and drive accountability across foundry, OSAT, Optical module/Board Level manufacturer, substrate and other organizations to deliver industry-leading quality outcomes.

What You Can Expect

Strategic Leadership & Quality Vision

• Define and execute the global SQE strategy, roadmap, and operating model aligned to Marvell's growth in AI/cloud and other businesses.
• Serve as the primary quality executive interface for Marvell's most strategic suppliers, including foundries, OSATs and other suppliers.
• Partner with business units, supply chain, procurement, and engineering to embed quality requirements from design inception through mass production.
• Lead regular quality business reviews with suppliers at the executive level
• Champion a continuous improvement culture, leveraging Six Sigma, DMAIC, Kaizen, and AI/ML-based quality analytics to drive step-change improvements in supplier quality

Foundry Quality Engineering

• Own the strategic quality relationship with leading foundry partners (e.g., TSMC, Global Foundries, Tower, etc.) at advanced process nodes (5nm, 3nm, 2nm, and beyond) as well as specialized older nodes.
• Drive foundry process quality programs including advanced node qualification, process characterization, excursion management, and SPC-based process control across wafer fabrication.
• Manage quality aspects of process change notifications (PCNs) from foundry partners, ensuring proper risk assessment, customer notification, and approval workflows.
• Lead quality engagement for advanced 2.5D/3D heterogeneous integration technologies (CoWoS, SoIC, HBM, chiplet architectures), partnering with package engineering and design teams.
• Represent Marvell in foundry quality governance bodies and advance joint continuous improvement programs targeting wafer-level defect density, parametric yield, and reliability.
• Conduct or oversee foundry quality audits and readiness assessments for new technology nodes or manufacturing line transfers.

OSAT Supplier Quality Engineering

• Oversee the quality performance of Marvell's global OSAT supply base (assembly, test, bumping, substrate suppliers) across all major geographic hubs.
• Define and enforce supplier quality agreements, scorecards, and escalation frameworks covering yield, DPPM, cycle time, CPK, and ORM metrics.
• Lead supplier audit programs utilizing ISO 9001, VDA 6.3, and IATF 16949 frameworks; ensure timely corrective action closure.
• Manage Material Review Board (MRB) governance for non-conforming material, presiding over disposition decisions and driving CAPA implementation to systemic closure.
• Govern Supplier Process Change Notice (SPCN) review and approval processes in alignment with customer commitments and Marvell quality policies.
• Drive Continuous Improvement Programs (CIPs) jointly with OSAT partners targeting assembly yield, packaging defect reduction, test escape rate, and cost of poor quality.

Optical Module Supplier Quality Engineering

• Lead the global Supplier Quality Management organization responsible for optical transceiver assembly suppliers, contract manufacturers, and critical component suppliers to ensure product quality, reliability, and supply continuity.
• Establish quality governance, risk management frameworks, and supplier performance management systems for optical components, PCBA, optics assemblies, cable assemblies, and transceiver manufacturing operations.
• Support supplier selection, qualification, and capability assessments for strategic suppliers, ensuring readiness for new technology introductions, supply chain resiliency.
• Provide executive leadership for supplier quality issue resolution to rapidly contain, investigate, and resolve critical quality, reliability, and customer-impacting events.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier quality, manufacturing yield, customer returns, field reliability, and cost of quality
• Drive performance improvement initiatives to advance quality maturity, operational excellence, and long-term partnerships.
• Oversee supplier audits, quality system assessments, and compliance activities to ensure adherence to quality standards, environmental, regulatory, and customer requirements.
• Lead the implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), PFMEA, Control Plans, process validation, and change management disciplines to reduce risks associated with product transfers, technology migrations, and supplier process changes.
• Serve as the senior quality representative for customer audits, executive reviews, and strategic engagements, building confidence in supplier quality and operational execution.

People & Organization Leadership

• Lead, develop, and grow a globally distributed SQE team spanning the Taiwan, US, Singapore, Korea, and other regions.
• Attract and retain top quality engineering talent; build career paths and development programs that deepen technical and leadership capabilities.

• Drive organizational effectiveness by optimizing team structure, workflows, and tools to scale with Marvell's product portfolio growth.
• Foster a culture of accountability, quality obsession, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional partnership.

• Build and develop a high-performing global SQE team through organizational leadership, talent development, succession planning, and continuous capability enhancement.

What We're Looking For

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline. Master's degree or PhD preferred.

Experience

• 18+ years of progressive experience in semiconductor quality, with a minimum of 10 years in leadership roles of increasing scope.
• Demonstrated experience as executive quality interface to major suppliers
• Deep technical expertise in semiconductor foundry quality, including advanced CMOS process nodes (7nm and below), yield management, process control, and wafer-level quality programs.
• Significant hands-on experience managing OSAT supplier quality programs, including assembly, test, bumping, and substrate suppliers.
• Strong working knowledge of advanced packaging technologies: 2.5D/3D IC (CoWoS, SoIC), flip chip, wafer-level packaging, and heterogeneous integration.
• Proven experience leading or overseeing supplier quality audits using ISO 9001, VDA 6.3, and/or IATF 16949 frameworks.
• Experienced in formal issue resolution such as 8D, etc.

Technical Skills

• Mastery of quality engineering tools: FMEA/PFMEA), SPC, DOE, MSA, Control Plans, 8D, and CAPA methodologies.
• Solid understanding of semiconductor fabrication, backend assembly, and test processes, including knowledge of failure modes and failure analysis techniques (CSAM, SEM/TEM, FIB, curve tracing).
• Familiarity with reliability standards: JEDEC, AEC-Q100/Q101, IPC, MIL-STD.
• Experience with PLM/QMS systems (e.g., Agile, Oracle) and quality data analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications in quality data analysis, signature analysis, and predictive quality is a strong plus.

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills

• Proven ability to lead and inspire large, globally distributed teams in a fast-paced, matrixed semiconductor environment.
• Executive presence and communication skills - ability to distill complex quality issues into clear, compelling narratives for suppliers and senior leadership.
• Strong cross-functional influencer with demonstrated ability to align engineering, operations, supply chain, and business units around quality objectives.
• Track record of building strategic, trust-based relationships with foundry and OSAT supplier executives.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and escalations simultaneously.
