Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight (PO31 8PF)

Contract length: 6 months

Working pattern: occasional travel site

Rate: £51.60 PAYE / £66.34 UMB

Security: BPSS + SC (role is subject to ITAR restrictions and UK Eyes only)

BAE Systems - Defence Solutions (MS) is looking for an experienced PCB Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering team in Cowes. You'll support delivery of complex PCB designs for high-integrity defence programmes, working from early concepts through to release of full manufacturing data packs.

What you'll be doing

• Producing complex PCB layouts using Cadence Allegro (essential).
• Taking PCB designs from initial concept through to manufacturing data pack release.
• Working on large, complex, multi-layer / multi-substrate designs with a focus on quality and robustness.
• Designing for controlled impedance, high-speed digital, RF, mixed-signal, high-current and large FPGA technologies.
• Applying advanced via technologies including blind, buried and filled vias.
• Supporting PCB EMC/WMI design, testing and qualification considerations.
• Collaborating with stakeholders and contributing to reviews, verification/checking and technical assurance activities.
• Helping maintain PCB toolsets, libraries and supporting databases.

What we're looking for

• • Proven experience as a PCB Design Engineer on complex electronic products.
  • Cadence Allegro PCB layout experience.
  • Hands-on experience designing multi-layer and multi-substrate PCBs.
  • FPGA device design experience (or strong exposure to FPGA-driven designs and the layout implications).
  • Component management experience (parts/libraries/footprints/BOM discipline).
  • EMC experience is useful (designing with EMC considerations and supporting test/qualification activities).
  • HyperLynx is desirable (signal/power integrity analysis exposure is a plus).
  • Eligibility for BPSS + SC clearance and ability to work under ITAR restrictions.
