Front End Engineer - React

At Matillion, we are moving beyond traditional data processing to define the future of the AI Data Automation Platform. Our mission is to make data "AI-ready" at the speed of thought, centred around Maia - our autonomous AI data engineering foundation.

As a Frontend Engineer, you will build the interfaces that make that mission real, using React and an agentic-first mindset - working alongside AI tools like Claude not as a shortcut, but as an essential partner in how you engineer. You will own high-visibility features, act as a skilled validator of AI-generated code, and help set the bar for what "production-ready" means on our team.

This is a hybrid role based in Manchester, UK, with minimum 2 days a week in the office.

What you will be doing

• Build production React and TypeScript components for Maia and Maia Teams - clean, readable, built for your teammates to extend.
• Run an agentic-first workflow: use GenAI tools daily to handle the repetitive work, so your time goes on architecture and hard logic.
• Act as the human-in-the-loop - review, refactor and harden AI-suggested code against our security and performance bar.
• Break epics into shippable increments and keep a steady flow of value through CI/CD.
• Shape front-end architecture with your squad - component patterns, state management, the calls that outlast a single sprint.

What we are looking for

• Professional experience shipping production React applications, with testable, well-documented code.
• Daily hands-on use of AI coding tools, paired with the judgement to critically validate every output rather than trust it blind.
• A structured, systematic approach to diagnosing and fixing issues in a frontend service.
• Strong grasp of modern web security and self-documenting code practices.
• Comfort across the full SDLC - Agile, CI/CD, version control - in a live production environment.
