Micron Technology is an American semiconductor company founded in Boise, Idaho in 1978 and one of only a handful of manufacturers of both DRAM and NAND flash memory. It designs and fabricates memory and storage products used in data centres, personal computers, smartphones, cars and industrial equipment, and sells them under the Micron and consumer-facing Crucial brands. High-bandwidth memory for AI accelerators has become the fastest-growing part of the business, and the company operates fabrication and assembly sites across the United States and Asia.

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The ASIC Validation team plays a critical role in bringing Micron's next-generation silicon products to life by validating and characterizing new devices as they return from fabrication. Working closely with design, verification, and firmware teams, the group develops innovative validation methodologies, automation solutions, and AI-enabled workflows to ensure product quality, performance, and reliability.

As an ASIC Validation Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to validate newly developed silicon and enhance the validation infrastructure used across engineering teams. This role provides hands-on experience with hardware validation, lab equipment, automation, data analysis, and AI-assisted engineering workflows while contributing directly to the successful bring-up of next-generation ASIC products.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with validation, design verification, and firmware teams to support silicon bring-up, testing, and validation activities for new ASIC devices.

  • Use laboratory equipment, automation tools, and validation environments to characterize device functionality and performance.

  • Develop or enhance scripts, automation solutions, and AI-assisted workflows to improve validation efficiency, failure analysis, and reporting.

  • Analyze validation results, debug complex issues, and evaluate AI-generated insights while applying sound engineering judgment.

  • Document technical findings, communicate project results, and present recommendations to engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research, academic projects, laboratory work, or engineering experience related to ASICs, semiconductor devices, hardware validation, or embedded systems.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • Basic understanding of ASIC design, silicon bring-up, validation methodologies, or semiconductor development processes.

  • Experience using electronic laboratory equipment through coursework, research, or project activities.

  • Familiarity with generative AI tools, AI-enabled workflows, and large language models (LLMs) such as Copilot, Claude, or similar technologies.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to critically evaluate AI-assisted outputs.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, research, or project experience in ASIC validation, semiconductor product development, hardware testing, or system validation.

  • Programming experience with Python, C/C++, SystemVerilog, or similar languages used for automation and validation.

  • Experience applying AI-assisted development, prompt engineering, workflow automation, data analysis, or machine learning techniques to engineering problems.

  • Familiarity with AI agents, agentic workflows, automation frameworks, or data-driven engineering processes.

  • Experience with data analysis, reporting tools, version control systems such as Git, or test automation methodologies.

  • Understanding of responsible AI practices, including data governance, intellectual property protection, and human-in-the-loop validation.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute effectively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
