Staff Platform Engineer

Job Description:

Responsibilities

• Write highly maintainable, performant code.
• Implement and maintain custom tools, quality gates, and services.
• Maintain a high degree of ownership and transparency.
• Work closely with engineering leadership and architects to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Proactively identify and implement process improvements for how we write, test, deploy, and monitor code.
• Lead and drive component-level and system-level architectural design, code reviews, and technical decision-making across teams.
• Define and govern architectural standards, patterns, and best practicesacross the engineering organization.
• Own the end-to-end technical visionfor key platform components, ensuring alignment with product strategy and engineering goals.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks, providing recommendations that influence platform direction and long-term scalability.
• Serve as a technical authority and escalation pointfor complex, cross-team engineering challenges and design trade-offs.
• Collaborate with product management and business stakeholdersto translate business requirements into scalable, resilient architectural solutions.
• Drive cross-functional alignmenton shared infrastructure, APIs, and platform capabilities to reduce duplication and increase reuse.
• Automate unit and integration tests within a CI/CD pipeline.
• Champion engineering excellenceby establishing and enforcing quality gates, security standards, and performance benchmarks organization-wide.
• Knowledge on usage and adoption of AI tools across the wider org, enforcing best practices and identifying opportunities to accelerate developer productivity.
• Mentor junior, mid-level, and senior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical growth.

Required Skills

• Passion for technology and customer success.
• Proficiency in C#, Java, and/or Python development.
• Experience with GitHub for version control, Workflows, and collaboration.
• Experience with Ansible and Terraform for automation and infrastructure management.
• Proficiency in Docker for containerization and deployment.
• Experience automating quality gates, static code analysis, and integrating with various orchestration/build systems.
• Demonstrated experience making architectural decisionsfor large-scale, distributed systems in a cloud-native environment.
• Strong understanding of microservices, event-driven architectures, API design, and platform engineering principles.
• AI tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.
• Experience influencing and aligning diverse engineering teamsaround shared architectural vision and technical roadmaps.
• 8+ years of software development experience,with at least 2+ years in an architect or technical lead capacity.
• Proven ability to write and deliver high-quality software.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills,including the ability to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
