Micron Technology is an American semiconductor company founded in Boise, Idaho in 1978 and one of only a handful of manufacturers of both DRAM and NAND flash memory. It designs and fabricates memory and storage products used in data centres, personal computers, smartphones, cars and industrial equipment, and sells them under the Micron and consumer-facing Crucial brands. High-bandwidth memory for AI accelerators has become the fastest-growing part of the business, and the company operates fabrication and assembly sites across the United States and Asia.

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Micron’s Boise site is undergoing a historic $15B investment in semiconductor manufacturing, with DRAM production planned for the second half of the decade. As part of Micron’s broader expansion, the High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) team drives innovation, operational excellence, and factory performance to deliver world-class memory solutions at scale. The team works hands-on with manufacturing processes, equipment, and data to directly impact yield, output, and cost.

As an ID1 High Volume Manufacturing Process Engineer Intern, you will focus on process optimization, yield improvement, and cost reduction initiatives within a fast-paced fab environment. You will collaborate closely with equipment engineers, operations leaders, and multi-functional partners while leveraging data-driven and AI-enabled approaches to improve process stability and wafer output.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze production data to identify process shifts, yield loss, and defect trends impacting wafer output
  • Apply SPC, FDC, and structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D) to improve process capability and tool performance
  • Partner with equipment and operations teams to resolve excursions, defects, and throughput issues
  • Implement projects to optimize wafer processing, improve yield, and increase wafer outs
  • Leverage AI-enabled or AI-assisted analytics tools to enhance data analysis, anomaly detection, and decision-making in manufacturing processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a STEM degree with an expected graduation between May-June 2027
  • Availability to work approximately 20 hours per week on-site in Boise, ID, for 6-8 months (preferred September 2026-May/June 2027)
  • Foundational knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Experience with one or more programming or data tools such as Python, Java, MATLAB, Tableau, or Microsoft Excel
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including exposure to applying AI-supported tools or data-driven methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, process engineering, or sustaining environments
  • Familiarity with data collection systems, data cleansing, and database querying
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis, visualization, and interpretation of large datasets
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor fab processes, equipment, and yield drivers
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills with the ability to collaborate in team environments
