Microsoft is an American multinational technology corporation founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen and headquartered in Redmond, Washington. It built the personal computing era around the Windows operating system and the Office productivity suite, and now generates the largest share of its revenue from Azure cloud infrastructure and commercial subscriptions. The company also owns GitHub, LinkedIn and the Xbox gaming business, and has invested heavily in artificial intelligence through its partnership with OpenAI and the Copilot assistants embedded across its products.
Overview

Are you looking for an opportunity to change the way businesses run in a world where AI agents work alongside people?

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Agent 365 Foundation team, you will lead the design and operation of the compute platform that Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Copilot agent workloads run on. Our team owns the hosting infrastructure behind these services, specializing in container orchestration and isolation layers that keep tenant workloads secure. You will set technical direction for major components of that platform and raise the engineering bar for the team around you.

This is infrastructure engineering with a direct line to the product. The services you build are the substrate for mission-critical business applications used by some of the largest companies in the world, and the same platform now carries a fast-growing set of agentic AI workloads. You will work close to Azure, in compute, networking, identity, and capacity, and you will see the effect of your design choices in reliability, deployment velocity, and cost.

Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and operation of the platform services and APIs that provision, scale, and secure containerized compute for Agent 365 and Dynamics workloads.

  • Drive architecture and technical strategy for hosting on Azure Container Instances, Service Fabric, and Azure Kubernetes Service, including migrations between hosting models.

  • Own components of the networking, identity, and isolation layers of the platform - virtual network integration, subnet delegation, managed identity, and container isolation - and hold them to Microsoft's security and compliance bar.

  • Own features and components end to end in a DevOps model, from design through deployment, rollout, and live-site support, and break large, ambiguous problems into workstreams the team can execute.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation, drive mitigation of live site production incidents, and own root cause analysis and post-incident reviews through to repair items.

  • Use telemetry, logging, and monitoring to drive data-informed decisions on reliability, performance, capacity, and infrastructure cost.

  • Partner with peer teams across Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Copilot to align on platform requirements, feature development, and onboarding new scenarios.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Deep hands-on experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and with Azure compute services such as AKS, Azure Container Instances, Service Fabric, or Virtual Machine Scale Sets.
  • Experience with Microsoft stack technologies, particularly C#, .NET, and core Azure platform services.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and safe deployment practices (for example ARM or Bicep templates and Azure DevOps pipelines).
  • Experience with Azure networking concepts including virtual networks, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Track record operating high-availability services, including on-call ownership, incident command, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with large-scale observability and diagnostics tooling, such as distributed tracing, metrics, and log analytics.
  • Experience with generative AI, agentic workloads, or LLM/ML systems, and an interest in the infrastructure problems they create.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership across teams, including design reviews, mentoring engineers, and driving multi-quarter platform work to completion.
