This role is ideal for an experienced workforce or resource planning leader with strong exposure to projects and technology environments, who enjoys balancing hands-on planning with people leadership and stakeholder engagement.

About the role

As Lead Resource Planner, you will lead a team of resource planners to deliver accurate, consistent and forward-looking capacity planning across multiple work types - including technology, operations and project teams.

You’ll act as a subject matter expert in capacity planning, setting standards, reviewing outputs, coaching planners and partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure planning insights support operational and strategic decision-making. The role combines leadership, people management and stakeholder engagement with deep involvement in planning cycles and analysis.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of short, medium and long-term capacity planning cycles across operational, project and technology workstreams
  • Apply agreed capacity planning frameworks and methodologies to support workforce planning strategy
  • Review, validate and peer-review planning outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency and alignment to standards
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of resource planners, effectively allocating work and building capability
  • Partner with stakeholders across projects, technology and operational teams to understand demand and provide planning insights
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning effectiveness through better processes, tools and ways of working
  • Monitor planning accuracy, identify risks or issues, and escalate where required
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support the Manager, Workforce Planning & Excellence

About you

You’re a confident people leader with strong workforce planning expertise, particularly within project-based or technology environments. You’re comfortable operating as a subject matter expert, influencing stakeholders and driving consistency while remaining hands-on when required.

You’ll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience applying capacity and workforce planning principles across complex operating models
  • Proven people leadership capability, including coaching, delegation and performance management
  • Experience balancing hands-on delivery with leadership and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong exposure to workforce management and planning systems
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools to interpret and validate planning outputs
  • Experience leading the production of reporting and analysis through a team
  • A data-driven mindset, using insights to support planning decisions and uplift team capability

No prior superannuation experience is required - specialist planning expertise is what matters most.
