The Role

Mode Mobile is looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer (Android & iOS) to join one of our cross-functional pods (Emerging Apps) and build great software that users love. You will initially join the team behind our Cleaner apps, with the flexibility to move across our portfolio of apps as business priorities evolve. We are a user-facing product-led team, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about helping users get more value out of their smartphones and monetize their everyday activities.

As an engineer, you’ll be accountable for nimbly experimenting with solutions, building high-quality software on both Android and iOS, and measuring results. You’ll use agentic AI coding tools as a core part of your daily workflow to move faster without compromising quality. You’ll work closely with product managers, other engineers, designers, marketing, operations, and several stakeholders to define and execute according to our strategic roadmap to accelerate our future growth.

• You’re a strong advocate for unit/integration testing and passionate about automated testing and continuously shipping to production on both app stores.
• You are adaptable and comfortable moving between apps, codebases, and pods as priorities shift.

What You Bring to the Team

Must Have:

• 5+ years of professional mobile engineering experience in an agile environment delivering native applications to end-users on both Android and iOS, with hands-on production experience using:
• Android: Kotlin (and Java), Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, Dagger/Hilt, Retrofit, Room
• iOS: Swift, SwiftUI and UIKit, Swift Concurrency (async/await), Combine, Core Data or equivalent
• GitHub for version control and pull-request based workflows
• SOLID, Clean Coding, Testing, experience with automation and instrumentation (Espresso/UI Automator, XCTest/XCUITest)
• Publishing and maintaining apps on Google Play and the Apple App Store, including release management and store compliance
• Agentic AI proficiency: demonstrated day-to-day use of AI agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot agents) to write and review infrastructure code, automate runbooks, and investigate incidents, with strong judgment on verifying AI-generated output before it touches production.
• You have exceptional organizational and analytical skills leading to confident independent delivery, but know when and how to include others.
• You have experience building large-scale systems with some technical leadership skills.
• Passionate about Technology and keeping up to date with latest advancements, techniques and best practices.

Nice to Have:

• CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions
• Experience with cross-platform frameworks (Kotlin Multiplatform, Flutter, or React Native) or web front-end (React/TypeScript)
• Experience integrating LLM/AI features into mobile apps (on-device or API-based), or building agentic workflows and MCP-style tooling
• Experience with mobile analytics and experimentation (Mixpanel, Firebase, feature flags, A/B testing)
• Experience with mobile ads and monetization SDKs, or consumer utility apps (cleaner, storage, privacy, or device optimization)

Nice to Have:

• Experience with censorship-circumvention technologies and traffic obfuscation (Shadowsocks plugins, V2Ray/Xray, obfs4, domain fronting) and operating in restrictive network environments
• Experience with userspace network stacks (lwIP, gVisor netstack) or Go-based networking tooling (wireguard-go)
• (Strong Plus) Experience taking over or integrating infrastructure from another company, including unfamiliar cloud environments, accounts, vendors, monitoring, CI/CD, and operational processes.
• Kubernetes, Nomad, or similar orchestration; Packer for image building
• Self-managed databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis) and backup / disaster recovery design
• Cloud cost optimization across multiple providers and FinOps practices
• Compliance program experience (SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA) and handling of law-enforcement / data requests for a privacy product
• Familiarity with mobile app release pipelines (Fastlane, Bitrise, Xcode Cloud) and backend stacks in Go, Python, and Node.js
