Modeshift builds the software platform that runs public transport for 60+ cities across Europe and the US. Contactless fare collection, real-time vehicle tracking, passenger mobile apps, and the back-office systems behind them.
We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Test to build and improve test automation across our cloud platform and the devices connected to it, on vehicles and on the street.
What you’d work on
You’d test a distributed system where software runs both in the cloud and on devices in the field: validators and onboard computers on vehicles, ticket vending machines and passenger information displays on the street, and POS terminals. All of it connects to a multi-tenant cloud backend and the web and mobile apps built on top of it, including contactless payment flows from the device through to the back office.
You’d own test automation end to end and work directly with the engineers building each part of the system.
Our stack
.NET / C# on Azure Service Fabric, React with TypeScript, Kotlin and Java on Android. Devices run Linux and Android. Continuous delivery and peer code review on every PR.

- Comfortable on Linux, with Bash or PowerShell scripting
- We use Claude and other AI coding tools daily. If you’d rather not work that way, this isn’t the right role.

- Hybrid or office, whichever suits you

Interview process
Short screening call first. If that goes well, a technical interview, and then a final technical round. The technical interviews go deep on test architecture, automation design, debugging system behaviour, and algorithms. We aim to close within two to three weeks of the first call.
