Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Team Lead to oversee a global, cross-functional team of software engineers and quality assurance engineers, guiding them in the development and delivery of high-quality software and ensuring projects are completed on time and meet business requirements. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, team management, and the ability to foster a collaborative, results-driven team culture. The ideal candidate should be a strong communicator with a passion for problem-solving, mentoring, adoptable and driving continuous improvement within the new engineering process. You have to oversee the development of application code, contribute to and manage version-controlled source code repositories, and manage assigned tasks to create measurable value and deliver software to market using industry-recognized best practices. The lead should advocate the standards and guidelines set by the architects and leadership teams and must demonstrate quality, brevity, and timeliness in all deliverables. Technical lead have to raise the team's adoption of AI-driven engineering practices, and use AI strategically for delivery planning, risk assessment, and productivity gains. You will contribute technically towards the delivery, health, and growth of the entire team.
A Day in the Life
In this role, the candidate will:
- Manage a scrum team to deliver project deliverables on time and be the main technical face of the team for any decision.
- Successfully run Agile ceremonies and work closely with Product Owners on keeping the roadmap and the team’s current capacity in balance.
- Help to educate and mentor other engineers, and participate in on-call duties for production issues as required.
- Develop application code according to requirements and assigned tasks.
- Contribute to lifecycle Flow and value streams by following and prescribing methodologies and best practices.
- Solve the most difficult software development challenges.
- Maintain a balance of business and technical acumen in decision making.
- Contribute to source-code management and work item tracking best practices.
- Contribute to the estimation process during planning exercises.
- Provide consultation to the development management team.
- Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design reviews, writing user stories, reviewing code submitted by other engineers, and automated testing.
We Are Looking for Someone Who Brings
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 4 years building and supporting .NET Framework/.NET ecosystem-based applications.
- Has 2-4 years of experience in managing a scrum team
- Has 2-4 years of experience developing with the Power Platform / Dynamics 365 / Dataverse
Must-have skills
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) design and principles and is comfortable with working within an established code base.
- Extensive experience developing applications using .NET Framework and ASP.NET web forms.
- A self-starter who can work independently within a globally distributed team.
- Experience developing RESTful and SOAP APIs.
- Experience with developing middleware and interacting with components such as Azure Service Bus, Azure Function, and Kafka.
- Expertise working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript / jQuery.
- Experience working in one or more RDBMS such as SQL server and PostgreSQL.
- Agile development experience using a scrum tool such as Jira.
- Experience with Git and version control software such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
- Experience with CI/CD best practices and leveraging GitHub actions or equivalent.
- Authentication and authorization using OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, and/or SAML.
- Understanding of emerging AI technologies and toolsets in support of engineering best practices, such as GitHub Copilot Chat, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.
- Experience with cross-repository dependency stewardship.
- Experience developing microservices and event-driven processing.
Good-to-have skills
- Experience deploying to and managing the cloud; experience with Azure and AWS is a huge plus.
- Experience with performance testing and APMs at the enterprise level.
- Experience developing payment systems; knowledge of PCI requirements.
- Experience with IIS web server and virtual machines.
- Experience with Association Management software or the Association space.
