  • Provide engineering support for injection molding machines, robots, automation, conveyors, thermolators, chillers, dryers, material handling systems, compressors, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action activities for significant or recurring equipment failures.
  • Develop and implement solutions that improve equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability.
  • Identify equipment failure trends and develop improvement plans based on maintenance and downtime data.
  • Develop, improve, and sustain preventive maintenance (PM) programs for production and facility equipment.
  • Evaluate PM frequencies and tasks based on equipment history, manufacturer recommendations, failure patterns, and operating conditions.
  • Identify opportunities to implement predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis, ultrasonic inspection, or other condition-monitoring methods.
  • Review PM effectiveness and eliminate unnecessary or ineffective maintenance activities.
  • Establish equipment standards and maintenance requirements for critical assets.
  • Develop a strong understanding of injection molding processes and the interaction between machines, molds, robots, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting of molding machine controls, hydraulics, electrical systems, temperature control, screw recovery, injection systems, and associated equipment.
  • Support equipment setup, commissioning, and optimization.

Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Compile and analyze maintenance, downtime, failure, and equipment performance data.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce unplanned downtime, maintenance cost, and repeat failures.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators for equipment reliability.
  • Use data to prioritize maintenance improvement opportunities based on business impact.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability, efficiency, cost reduction, and process stability.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies, including 5S, root cause analysis, Pareto analysis, and structured corrective action.

Capital Projects & Equipment Implementation

  • Provide engineering support for new equipment purchases, replacements, upgrades, and capital projects.
  • Develop equipment specifications and participate in equipment/vendor selection.
  • Support installation, commissioning, startup, and qualification of new equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, electricians, technicians, and internal stakeholders during equipment projects.
  • Ensure new equipment is properly documented and incorporated into the maintenance program.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing equipment through automation, controls upgrades, energy reduction, or design modifications.

Maintenance Systems & Documentation

  • Support the development and improvement of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ensure equipment records, PM procedures, bills of materials, manuals, and technical documentation are accurate and maintained.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides, standard work, maintenance procedures, and equipment standards.
  • Identify critical spare parts and support development of appropriate inventory levels.
  • Establish equipment criticality rankings and maintenance priorities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure maintenance engineering activities support a safe working environment.
  • Incorporate machine guarding, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and other applicable safety requirements into equipment improvements.
  • Support investigations of equipment-related safety incidents and corrective actions.
  • Ensure engineering modifications comply with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
