Our main products, within the Business Unit Simulation & Test in Nieuw-Vennep, are the Motion Systems for creating the illusion of actual flight/drive, Control Loading Systems providing advanced force feedback on the pilot’s controls inside a simulator and Aerospace & Automotive Test Systems for material, structural and system testing. We serve a wide variety of customers, including global OEM’s such as Airbus, Boeing, BMW, Ford, etc.

For our Service department at Moog Nieuw Vennep, we are looking for a:

Field Service Engineer

Background information / responsibilities

The primary focus areas for the Field Service Engineer are the Flight Simulation and Automotive Test products. You will provide technical support for a broad range of Moog products and systems with the backup of a great team. Mechanical hands-on activities are an important part of the job, including maintenance and overhauls. It is expected that you will be able to service electro-mechanical and electrohydraulic technologies. Many systems are mechatronic and contain a significant amount of software.

The Field Service Engineer represents Moog while visiting customers, and you are expected to provide customer centric support and foster strong customer relationships. Solving a customer problem as a specialist is both enjoyable and rewarding. While working with or visiting customers, commercial opportunities are often identified, so you work closely with the sales team to support the development of proposals.

Due to the nature of the business, the Field Service Engineer must be able to work under machine breakdown conditions and provide incidental extended support hours.

What skills and experience would you require?

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with a special interest in Measurement & Control or Automation, or MBO with a minimum of 7 years of work experience in a similar field.
  • Ability to diagnose (complex) technical problems and implement solutions, alone or together with your colleagues.
  • Able to work with software tools, service applications and configuration databases.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Planning and organizing skills required to ensure proper support, documentation, and configuration control for the global installed base.
  • Can do mentality to support customers and exceed expectations by sometimes handling issues.
  • Being able to organize service structure to provide technical support and field service for multiple Moog products.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary problem solving and service development activities.
  • Understanding of market and technology trends on field service and ability to initiate action to improve and/or maintain competitive edge on service.
  • Seeks consensus when faced with conflicting interests.
  • Demonstrates highly effective communication skills.

Reporting line:

  • The candidate will report directly to the Manager Aftermarket Services

Special Circumstances:

  • Because Moog’s customers are located globally, travel is an essential part of Field Service activities, offering the opportunity to see different parts of the world.
  • You may have to work overtime to complete the job, including weekend and evening hours. The role requires a frequent travel, up to approximately 80 percent, including weekends. Stays can be extended when needed, and it is possible to remain onsite for more than a week.
