The Team: Systems Integration (Elgin, IL)

Our Supply Chain organization is a fast-paced, dynamic environment delivering world-class communications solutions. You will be joining the Systems Integration team at the Elgin Experience Center-the critical bridge where customer needs and technological solutions converge. Here, our engineering team:

- Stages systems with technology innovations which give Motorola Solutions a competitive edge in quality, speed, and delivery.

- Hosts hundreds of customers annually to finalize and test designs for mission-critical emergency call-handling solutions.

- Partners with field teams to deploy infrastructure that directly supports first responders and private enterprises.

Job Description

The Role

As an Engineering Intern, you will work in a people-first culture focused on expanding human potential. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build, integrate, and stage complex infrastructure ecosystems. Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Deployment: Execute the system staging process to build, image, deploy, and maintain robust infrastructure footprints.
• Virtualization & OS: Provision and support VMware vSphere and Red Hat KVM virtualization environments; construct and manage unified Microsoft Windows Server architectures, Active Directory, and Linux operating systems.
• Network & Security: Build, connect, and troubleshoot Cisco networking equipment (switches and routers); deploy enterprise Fortinet firewall solutions to optimize defense, traffic separation, and information flows.
• Communications Tech: Integrate analog, digital, and SIP-based audio processing technologies to support real-time critical communication feeds.
• Root-Cause Analysis: Analyze system behaviors and isolate performance anomalies across multi-vendor hardware, software, virtualization, and networking stacks.
• Project Ownership: Complete a dedicated summer continuous-improvement project, owning all aspects from ideation to execution and presenting your findings to leadership.

Preferred Skills

• AI & Tech Fluency: Familiarity with generative AI tools for coding efficiency, data analysis, or process automation.
• Data-Driven Mindset: Experience with data analysis and statistical concepts to identify trends, interpret data, and drive continuous improvements.
• Communication & Collaboration: Strong ability to explain complex technical issues or methodologies clearly to cross-functional, non-technical stakeholders.
• Structured Problem-Solving: Ability to approach technical challenges logically, prioritize tasks effectively, and drive results in a team setting.

This position is located on-site in Elgin, Illinois.

Basic Requirements

• Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT Networking, or a related discipline.
• Must have an expected graduation date between 12/2028 and 6/2030.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
