Role Overview

The Portal Developer is responsible for maintaining the IT Automation portal design and code integrity, adhering to all standards and policies used within our company. They will assist other engineers and developers in the use of open protocols and platform APIs, along with automation vendor platforms, for supporting the design and development and integrating of IT solutions with the automation platform(s). Working with IT Automation and other Platform architects to maintain and evolve the Automation Reference Architecture. The role works with internal technical specialists, architects, and external service providers to support the future direction of IT Automation. The incumbent will support the implementation of IT Automation products and provide subject-matter expertise to all IT Automation developers.

What will you do in this role:

• Manage the design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, control, maintenance, and effective use of specific technology services.

• Follow standard approaches and established design patterns to create new designs for systems or system components. Apply agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.

• Carry out and also improve system software development and maintenance tasks by updating the product design to automate routine system administration tasks using standard tools and software development practices.

• Contribute to identification and prioritized adoption of Technology Engineering community practices within the products where you work.

• Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the Product manager.

• Participate in Product planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with Product goals.

What should you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.

• 3-7 years of hands-on experience.

• 5 years and above of relevant experience.

• Working knowledge or subject matter expertise with ReactJS, TypeScript, NodeJS, and frameworks/systems (Git).

• Experience with software/application type monolith with NodeJS backend and AngularJS/ReactJS front end.

• Previous experience developing ServiceNow software solutions using JavaScript, Jelly, Web Services, MYSQL, XML, HTML and CSS.

• Proficiency with ServiceNow Flow Designer and development of workflows, custom web services, custom notifications, assessments, custom applications.

• Knowledge of building out ServiceNow CMS (ESS - Employee Self Service Portal).

• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery & practice.

• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL or other).

• Good communication skills.

• Flexibility to work a shift overlapping part of the US Work Day.

• Previous experience with the development of automated testing solutions.

• Working knowledge of AWS serverless architecture including the use of Lambdas and step functions.

• AWS or ServiceNow certifications are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

Primary Skills (Must have):

• Strong hands-on experience in React.js, TypeScript, and Node.js.

• Experience with Git and version control best practices.

• Experience in Full Stack Application Development.

• Working knowledge of Cloud Technologies (AWS preferred; Azure, GCP, or equivalent cloud platforms acceptable).

• Experience working with Databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, or similar.

• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

• Ability to design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain scalable web applications.

• Working knowledge of Automated Testing Solutions, such as Playwright.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a global team environment.

Secondary Skills (Nice to have):

• Experience with ServiceNow Development.

• Knowledge of ServiceNow Flow Designer and workflow development.

• Experience building and supporting ServiceNow CMS / Employee Self-Service (ESS) Portals.

• Experience developing custom applications, web services, notifications, and integrations within ServiceNow.

• Knowledge of AWS Serverless Architecture, including Lambda and Step Functions.

• AWS and/or ServiceNow certifications are an added advantage.
