Senior Workday Finance Consultant

Position Summary

The Senior Workday Financials Consultant will be a key member of the Workday Finance team responsible for supporting, enhancing, and optimizing the Workday Financial Management platform.

Working closely with the Product Owner, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, and Technology teams, this role will help drive continuous improvement across Workday Financials while ensuring stability and support for day-to-day operations.

The consultant will contribute to the ongoing evolution of Workday Financials by partnering with business stakeholders and fellow team members to design, configure, test, support, and enhance solutions across Core Financials, General Ledger, Supplier Accounts, Supplier Invoices, Payments, Settlements, Banking, Treasury, Foreign Exchange (FX), Reporting, and related financial processes.

This role requires a strong understanding of the end-to-end financial lifecycle, including supplier onboarding, invoice processing, approvals, payments, settlements, accounting, cash management, treasury operations, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Workday Financials Support & Enhancement

• Partner with the Workday Finance team to support, maintain, and enhance the Workday Financials platform.
• Configure and support Workday Core Financials, including:
  • General Ledger
  • Supplier Accounts
  • Supplier Invoices
  • Payments
  • Settlements
  • Banking and Cash Management
  • Treasury Operations
  • Foreign Currency (FX) Management
• Support financial close processes and ensure system configurations align with business and accounting requirements.
• Participate in Workday releases and assess new functionality for business adoption.

Finance & Treasury Process Expertise

• Develop a strong understanding of end-to-end finance and treasury processes.
• Support financial operations from supplier onboarding through invoice processing, approval workflows, payment execution, settlement, cash management, and general ledger posting.
• Assist in supporting foreign currency and exchange rate-related processes, including FX rate maintenance, currency conversions, revaluation activities, and impacts to financial reporting where applicable.
• Partner with Treasury and Finance teams to support banking relationships, cash management, and foreign currency requirements.

Enhancements, Configuration & Testing

• Participate in enhancement initiatives from requirements gathering through configuration, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable Workday solutions.
• Configure Workday business processes and financial functionality to support operational needs.
• Support unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, and production validation activities.
• Document business requirements, configuration decisions, and test results.

Reporting & Analytics

• Develop and maintain Workday reports and dashboards supporting Finance, and Treasury operations.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver actionable insights.

Production Support & Continuous Improvement

• Perform day-to-day support and administration of Workday Financials.
• Troubleshoot configuration, reporting, business process, and transactional issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and develop sustainable solutions.
• Monitor recurring issues and recommend processes, configuration, and control improvements.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve financial processes, enhance user experience, and optimize Workday functionality.
• Participate in ongoing "keep the lights on" support activities while balancing enhancement and optimization initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Workday Financial Management experience.
• Strong functional knowledge of:
  • General Ledger
  • Supplier Accounts
  • Supplier Invoices
  • Payments
  • Settlements
  • Banking and Cash Management
  • Treasury Operations
  • Foreign Currency (FX) Processes
• Experience configuring and supporting Workday business processes.
• Experience with Workday reporting and analytics.
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial operations.
• Experience gathering requirements, configuring solutions, testing, and supporting production environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting one or more Workday Financials implementations.
• Insurance industry experience
• Experience supporting global or multi-currency organizations.
• Experience partnering with Treasury teams on banking and cash management processes.
• Understanding of foreign currency accounting, exchange rates, revaluation, and translation processes.
• Workday Financials Certification
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
