(Senior) Backend Engineer (FinTech / SaaS)

Our client is a fast-growing international technology company building modern fintech and SaaS platforms for the healthcare sector in the US market.

Backed by experienced founders, global investors, and a highly entrepreneurial leadership team, the company is focused on transforming operational and financial workflows through scalable software products and intelligent automation.

They are currently expanding their engineering team in Taiwan and are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer Lead to help drive the development of core platform and financial infrastructure capabilities.

This position is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who enjoys building scalable systems, working on fintech-related products, and contributing within a fast-moving startup environment.

You will play a key role in designing and developing backend services, integrating financial and payment-related APIs, and helping shape technical architecture decisions as the platform continues to scale.

The role requires close collaboration with international stakeholders, including teams based in the United States, so strong English communication skills and flexibility to overlap with US working hours are important.

What you will do:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend APIs and platform services
• Develop backend systems using Node.js, Express.js, and PostgreSQL
• Integrate with banking, payment, and financial APIs
• Collaborate with cross-functional product and engineering teams on new platform capabilities
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions
• Ensure backend reliability, performance, and scalability
• Support the development of fintech and SaaS product features for international markets
• Work closely with overseas stakeholders and distributed engineering teams

What you will need:

• Strong backend engineering experience with modern JavaScript ecosystems
• 3-5+ years of software engineering experience
• Deep experience with and understanding of:
• JavaScript
• Node.js
• Express.js framework
• APIs
• Databases (PostgreSQL)
• Architecture
• Fintech web applications
• Good understanding of API design and backend system integration
• Comfortable working in fast-paced startup or product-driven environments
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Fluent English communication skills are essential
• Ability to work flexible hours to collaborate with US-based teams
• Candidates should already be based in Taipei
