NAPA provides maritime software and data services for ship design and operations to enable a safer, more sustainable, and future-proof maritime industry.

NAPA Design Solutions offers a comprehensive solution for 3D ship modeling and design tools covering hull form design and hydrodynamics, hydrostatics and stability, structural design, and information sharing across the shipbuilding process. These are among the most powerful tools in the industry, trusted by the world's largest shipyards and classification societies.

The role: what is it about?

The team is now looking for a Software Developer who will focus on application usability development with .NET, C#, WPF and XAML. Development, testing, and maintenance of the NAPA ship design solutions are part of your daily work. In this role you will mainly work on developing NAPA Engineer, a modern design and computing platform for naval architects. It combines trusted NAPA calculation capabilities with a redesigned, intuitive user experience and a powerful visual approach to engineering workflows. You can read more about the solution at: https://www.napa.fi/software-and-services/ship-design/software/napa-engineer/

You will do this work with artificial intelligence (AI) as a normal part of your toolchain. We use agentic coding capability across our development teams, which means using AI coding agents to plan, write, test, review and refactor code, and doing it in a way that improves both delivery speed and code quality. We expect you to use these tools in your daily work, to help us learn where they work well and where they do not, and to share those learnings with your team.

You will be working with Windows desktop applications, native libraries, third-party components, including a 3D graphics library, database engines, a licensing solution, and more.

This job is permanent and full-time.

Your team and job location

You will work in an international team where your closest colleagues are experienced software developers and naval architectural domain experts who will support you in your role. You will also interact with local and global colleagues from various teams in software development, UX design, DevOps, and sales. Together with them you will also shape how we use AI coding agents in practice, from tooling choices to review practices.

Our office is located in Helsinki (Ruoholahti), and you can work at the office or in hybrid mode. We hope to meet you at our Helsinki office regularly.

What are we looking for?

What matters most: you're curious about UI development, energized by AI-assisted development tools, and hungry to solve real problems as a self-starter. If the visual side of UI excites you too, that's a big plus.

Our ideal candidate would have:

  • Academic degree in a relevant field such as computer science, mathematics, physics, naval architecture, or engineering

  • Completed basic studies and/or having a good understanding of algorithms, data structures, and OOP (object-oriented programming)

  • 2+ years of experience in building native Windows desktop applications

  • Experience in UI design

  • Experience using WPF, C#, and XAML

  • Understanding of user experience and the ability to apply it in your own design work

  • Hands-on experience of using AI coding assistants or coding agents in real development work, together with the judgment to review, test and take responsibility for what they produce

  • Interest in NAPA’s domain (maritime business)

Additionally, the following skills would be considered an advantage:

  • Experience with agentic coding workflows

  • Knowledge or studies in usability

  • Experience with database solutions

  • Experience in automated testing methods

  • Knowledge of software reliability and maintainability

  • Experience in CAD or CAE applications

You do not need to tick every box on these lists. If this role feels like a good fit for you and you have most of what we are looking for, we hope you will apply.

We work in English across all our offices, so you need to be comfortable using it in your daily work, both in writing and in conversation.

Why you will enjoy working in this role

  • You get to combine modern desktop application development on a next-generation engineering platform, combined with AI agentic development that we are scaling across the company

  • The design work of the world's largest shipyards and classification societies happens in the software you develop

  • Great colleagues with expertise in, for example, naval architecture, software development and UX design

  • A global team of 230 experts who support you and share what they know

  • When you join NAPA, you will be assigned an onboarding buddy who will help ensure a smooth start and introduce you to the NAPA way of working

Ready to get on board and join the napa crew?

We kindly ask you to send your application and CV to us as soon as possible (by clicking the "Apply for this job" button on the job ad page), but no later than 11 October 2026. The position will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate has been found.

For more information about the position, please send your questions by e-mail to [email protected]. Notice that we cannot accept job applications sent by e-mail.
